Okko Dominator and Emma PisdiYAUwot are my favorite "metal" pedlols. The Dominator is fucking brutal.

:animal: I got a Vexter Box of Metal
and I FUCKEEN love it.
I can't stop playing Postmortem.
In between bouts of 80s metal, I've discovered that it's a pretty nice distortion box with the gain down. I like it, and I got it for a song.

I had one of these...long enough to trace the circuit and flip it. But while I had it, I rather liked it. It sounded great at bedroom volume. But I'll be damned if I could get it sound good while recording. :|

I also did the Metal Zone. I think people dismiss it too quickly and only because they heard other people saying it sucked.

Shit, I like a stock DS-1 for the most part. But I cut my teeth on Satriani's "Surfing with the Alien", so that might have something to do with it.

What are the first pedals I reach for when I'm about to play the heavies?

I had a keeley mt-2, and took it for granted. It was an excellent boost with the gain down a bunch. It was also good for oddball filter stuff. (low, high, bandpass, see also thin and cheesy or thick and muffled). Even for metal, these pedals (metal pedals in general) seem to be best used very sparingly... I never really missed it until i heard that thin, cheesy, tone so perfectly utilized for a solo in a straight-up tejano jam... (...sigh) Todo es perfecto, todo es triste y bonito.

Ps metal into fender twin is super-bitchiin!

if i need a really good "metal" sound ill slam a heavy ass fuzz with a overdrive pedal. that makes mesa boogie kids feel REALLY silly when your tone is 1000 times heavyer out of a tiny 1 channel combo

Haha... I have an old DOD grunge pedal laying around. It's had a couple of mods, but overall...

... it still pretty much sucks.

I had a hardwire metal that my friend still hasn't given back...

Valveking distortion is all the metal distortion I need.

...That and my DS-1

This

I play in a metalcore band and I just use a CM-2 into the Valveking lead channel and it sounds simply amazing on recordings.

This week I played a Metal Muff (the smallest one) of a friend.. I didn't think it sounded like pure metal, it was more some kind of a 70's sound, which I like! :)

Appreciate it. Not something I was looking for so to speak, but I figured if you bothered to trace it...might as well
