Short answer yes.
Also with tube amps I have found that going through the full windings (ie 16 ohm vs 8)
will sound fuller esp. when cranked and getting saturation.
More speakers generally means more volume.
SS amps are pretty much the same more is better, except they need lower impedance to produce full power (200 watts at 8 ohms-3000 watts at 2 ohms) (snide comment about it still not being as loud as an SVT inserted here please ignore if offended)
In series (16 ohm) the first speaker will get 50 watts same in stereo if using only one of the speakers.
In parallel (4 ohm) the out put is shared between both speakers so each will get roughly 25 watts.
Either way you should be fine.

I have an old early 80s fender twin reverb (135rms version...its piercing loud), and I feel the same way. Some days it sounds amazing, other days I don't think it sounds as good as it could.
