Post by tuffteef »

Any suggestions on good remake tonebender MK1's within reasonable price
im going for the mick ronson , beatles esq tonebender. im not sure if they used the mkI mk1.5 or mkII
most are making the mkII

the mkI seems more overdrivey fuzzy tight gained out slightly ratty

Cream of the crop:
jerms MkI
D*A*M 1965

Image

Both unobtainium...

Great alternatives:
MANLAY SOUND Ronno Bender <------I'm gassing for one of these. He also does a based-on-on-an-idea-by That's based on the Mick Ronson tone w/o actually being a MkI TB called Aladdin
Ghost / Ian Sherwen
Skinpimp <----higher gain, more compression, less gated
Pigdog
Pretty sure Creepy Fingers has done some too

Who else? Montgomery maybe?

Depends how expensive is expensive?

Hey, isn't the Yardbox supposed to be a MkI ? That would come in for way less $$ than any of those others

I was reading about the Yardbox just the other night, from some reports, the original YB was closer in sound to a MKIII...checkout http://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... it=yardbox for more info... as far as Ian Sherwen/Ghost Effects goes his pedals are far better in the flesh, frankly his demo's are pretty shite, and I think he could sell alot more pedals if he made better videos...plus he's a really nice guy :thumb: But, that Jerms

I've always wanted to try the skinpimp but I don't think he makes them anymore...seems like he's moved mostly to dealer only stuff (MK2/MK3/buzzaround) though you could try shooting him an email.

Creepy fingers or Fuzzfaceless (he just finished making me a mk1, it should be on its way from England shortly) are a good bet.
Neither has much in the way of a website so you'd have to email them.

I have a Skinpimp and Ghost Effects MKI's, with a Fuzzfaceless MKI on the way. The Ghost is awesome, don't even listen to the youtube vids..not even the same pedal from those! Skinpimp is great too..little more modern in a good way. The Ghost is the best price for sure and has good mojo components.. Ian and Tim (fuzzfaceless) are very responsive on email and will customize to your liking...both awesome guys. So, my vote is for Ghost or FuZzfaceless.

Wow, if that sounds even 1/3 as good as it looks, it'll be amazing.
A contender for sure. Clips?

here's a couple demos.
I think it sounds great,
but not as MKIish as I would personally like.
It's has its own tone to it, but it does sound nice.
