Nope, it's a Fuzz Factory without the oscillation circuit.

:p

:picard:

Just kidding bud. I didn't know if your question was a joke or not, cause for a time Tom did build the Dark Boost with an added knob.

I still think Tom should think about doing a very limited run of Groundswell Oscillators :)

Groundswell's a super overdrive, really, it's as good as they come. Only better, if You ask me. :animal: Yes, I repeat myself.

:poke: Perhaps You should ask if Tom would build You  a custom one with an added gain stage behind an extra foot switch. Stacking Groundswell gain stages works awesome, it has a brow raising amount of wonderfully open gain, of the roaring sort, without any low end cut.

Oh, and by a coincident, here's a pretty pic of one:

Controls are Vol, Gain, extraGain, and Volt. The right footswitch is on/off, the middle engages the extra-gain, and the one left is a momentary latch for boosting the second mode even a tad more, just to get the feedbacks and pitch harmonies right :)

To avoid unwanted funny compression
, do not place anything with a hi-gain /hot output before the pedal. The lovely Groundswell overdrive is based on really overdriving the gain stages and so comes a tubes-go-sizzling-overdrive so loud it'd make Lemmy smile. BUT feeding an already hot signal to Groundswell can overwhelm the circuit, making it go gulp, then vomit compression, and You are to wear a t-shirt saying FAIL. You might want to avoid that.

Would it be an unnecessarily large leap in logic to say that they don't cooperate with active electronics too well?

It's just easier to curse with smurf-placements. I had no meaning or intent behind it, other than to use as many smurfs as I can..

...sorry for time zone differences and going to Ufomammut gig, making me unavailable. :whateva: The gig was :animal: just awesome :animal: check the band out if You haven't already made friends.

I'd say it's pretty safe to assume the pickup impedance values can be the reason for unwanted audio fx. :idk: So... yes, active gear might not work too well. BUT do Yourself a favor and DO check Your pickup impedance values from internetz/ retailer/ brochure/ Mom first. :) If by active pickups is actually ment active preamp following passive pickups, try bypassing the preamp - a it's readily offered option in some active bass guitars - or take the onboard circuitry out and give it a pedal enclosure :thumb: .
