Okay, I do like buying it out of some weird NERD-LIKE DESIRE to own certain records, but I don't keep them in a hyperbaric chamber, as much as I try to care for them.

I play everything I buy as well...there is always a record on the turntable at my house.

I did some nerdy youtube videos awhile back...

yeah!!! for records evil side... it's taken awhile to stop freaking on them... i am the one who finds all the great stuff for a dollar at goodwill, but in the past couple of years the youngsters are driving up prices... can't even go to the record convention they have twice a year here cause i'm not paying 100 a record cause hipsters say it's cool... if it is indeed really cool i'll find it... :thumb:

i watched both of those vids ross and have the same stuff...

I have so much, I try to keep it down to just what I still listen to and/or my prized pieces. So basically, yes...it still fills an entire closet.

I pick up a record every now and again. Working on a meager stack.
I mostly buy records from Hot Topic (yeah, I said it) and thrift stores because we have no proper record stores around here.

get in where you can fit in... my first huge buy that boosted my collection and learned me on good ol' 70's space rock fusion jazz prog was from a neighborhood crackhead... he had two wooden crates full of hancock, corea, ponty, coryell, davis, cobham, mclaughlin, et al... i mentioned to everyone i knew that i wanted records and it jarred his memory that these were in his "storage unit"... whatever :idk: , he brought over about 300 + records from the 70's and 80's and i gave him $50... still, those are some of the best records i have and they got me hooked... just talk to peeps and check EVERYWHERE... so many old folks just throw them out cause their grandkids tell 'em records are dead, it's all ipod crap... look around and don't have shame about buying from hot topic or best buy that's just letting mfgrs know that people still want good sound and real covers to read and cherish and roll on... :thumb: :yay:

I got started with a few records that my parents had sitting around, and been buying ever since. Mostly new release stuff. or anything I see that grabs my attention. I'm really a fan of having a release in tangible form. Sure downloads are handy, but I prefer to have the artwork and all.

Note: Shitty mastering won't sound any better on vinyl... and most modern pressings are done from digital recordings (which doesn't mean anything, really... just going back to "it only sounds as good as the mastering job", and that people who press lossy digital formats are wasting mo-mo).

just sayin'... :idk:

Says the guy with the Strawberry Switchblade avy...

But I mostly get early to mid 90's indiepop... the DIY/cuteness factory makes for some epic wins... I've got this sweet triple 7" box set that looks like a neopolitan ice cream and has a special wooden ice cream scoop.

I'm at like 2 milk crates of LPs and probably 3 feet of 7"s :idk: But my turntable broke, so I've been postponing most purchases until that gets fixed.

I build and then stop due to vinyl players not being permanent for me. I keep buying after a needle breaks and then forget to get a needle...then somehow can't afford it. Last purchase was Sonny Rollins "Rollin" and Les Baxter "African Jazz"
