to use it on the FEB—its logical place since i’d use it on loops, not on regular music—i’ll need another port because the current Voodoo Labs 3 + 4-port expander is full. the cheap-and-easy solution is a 2-spot daisy chain which i have in the cables bag, but i kind of feel like another expansion module would be good because it would give me off-board power for stuff i want to add to the signal chain. it kind of sucks that the big board can’t power a wah because every outlet is taken.

to my great surprise when i A/Bed the two boxes the Hotone actually sounds more realistic. it's incredibly fiddly, though...it has a load of presets only a few of which are in the ballpark, and it has 4-band EQ for low/mid/high/presence. the only way i can work with it is to use the Donner looper to hold a loop and futz with the Omni AC as it goes around. i think i may be able to get three different user presets that are passable, but i expect it'll take a couple of days at least because it has 15 presets so even though some are useless (MANDOLIN, FL BASS, UP BASS, and NYLON 01 and 02) it'll take time to weed through the 10 that might pass. so far i like the Hummingbird setting most, which is funny because i haven't liked the Hummingbirds i've played at all. unfortunately it'll be even harder to cram it onto the FEB than the Mooer so it might have to live out in front. it's very weird to me that on demos the Mooer sounds better, but in real life the Hotone cuts it. this is the worst contrast between demos and experience i can remember for some time.
there was a period in my life where i spent entirely too much time editing presets in painstaking detail on the PodXT and my Casio keyboard. i'm not loving being back to that, but i should get used to it before i start working with the SPX900.
