he had a very difficult life but still created some of the most transcendent art songs of the 20th century.

It's so cool when your favorite people keep dropping dead, but humanity's worst scumbags just keep on chugging along.

Farewell Brian and Sly. You will be remembered fondly.

Rest in peace!

Brian is probably one of the musicians who had most impact on me ever. I thought I would be more devastated but he has had his run, I can only wish he died peacefully. It is amazing he survived for so long with everything he lived through. Albeit terrible that Mike outlived him.

Love and mercy!

this has been bothering me more than i expected. i’m
more upset than i was when Phil Lesh died, and i was a stone Dead follower for decades. i think some of it is how deeply the songs i love most hit. there isn’t much music in the world that can awe me and bring me to tears, but these guys do it.

and i think it’s also so sad for me because i know what being lost in your own mind is like, and how much he could have done if not for horrible fortune. nobody else will ever be able to do what he did, though god knows they’ve tried. Fridmann’s production on the Mercury Rev and Flaming Lips albums owes a lot to Brian, to name one.
