Pedal Powered Speaker?

Post by smile_man »

So, could I use my modded ds-1 to power a speaker? Or, how could I go straight into the power amp of my marshall mg10cd? I want an amp that sounds like my pedal.

The IC in the DS1 is a pre/op amp. I think you'll need a power amp after it. You could build it into your marshall...or make a simple 386 amp (or like that ehx .22) and rehouse the 386+ds1 circuit...or so you don't have to rehouse, build the amp circuit very sparingly, and put it in the battery cavity of the ds1...OR you could leave it as is and keep it plugged in to the marshall FOR-EH-VER.

did you use a pair of headphones to just listen to the pedal? how do you know what "just that" sounds like?

if sound is your only reason (not size, etc), then i think your best bet is to just use the cleanest amp possible... or to go for an ehx .22 or similar for size considerations.

a 386 based amp will still color your sound somewhat... probably just the same amount as the marshall.

What? Is that even possible? The only way I can see that working is if the headphones have a power amp in them themselves. :?:
