Re: DRONE ZONE
I don't drone much these days. I should drone more. This is a good reminder.
I used to use the LAL MNP-2. I freaking loved the sound of those oscillators, especially how they drifted when set around the same freq. But the thing was almost as big as an OG Drone Commander (which was also mostly great) and I didn't use the other stuff on there much, so I sold it. If anyone has tips on similar sounding dual oscillator drone gear in a smaller package, I'm all ears.

Oh dang, that has two oscillators and two theremin voices right? I’ve always looked at that thing and wondered if anyone out there actually bought one.UglyCasanova wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 12:08 pm I don't drone much these days. I should drone more. This is a good reminder.

Yeah, but on mine only one theremin worked from the start.
It was cool and I had it for a long time. It was great for improvising during noise sets, but I only miss the oscillators now.
Here's an old clip of it paired with a drone commander and some other stuff: https://youtu.be/SHsOloyKCBs?si=BPYv2Qe17nJes9SR

Re: DRONE ZONE
I had a magpie modded Electro-Faustos Drone Thing for a while, which I liked but strangely haven't missed since. My favourite droney device right out of the box is probably the Dwarfcraft SOMMS. Tbh that's probably still one of the most immediate fun experiences I've had after plugging something in for the first time. Fave sounding is the drone on the Fuzzrocious Empty Glass. Playing Mantis is cool too. Fwiw I really dig the Lovetone Flange for drones too, but don't play it for that purpose that often.

This makes me miss my drone commander. I want one of the pedal versions. I bet it sounds pretty awesome through the timefactor. I haven't done any drone stuff in a few years but I have a few days off and might bust out my lyra. I sold the DC when I got the lyra haha.

I still really like the time factor after all this time- it just sounds really good to me.cantremember wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 2:46 pmThis makes me miss my drone commander. Man I had a lyra a while back and it scared me off- those oscillators are gnarly. Maybe I’ll drift back into soma world when the Lyra 4 comes out
