Catalinbread has rolled out a expanded version of the Soft Focus reverb called (duh) the Soft Focus Deluxe which includes a delay engine, shimmer settings, a distortion circuit, expression pedal control, and the ability to have the effects apply only to the reverb trails (“parallel mode”). i don’t think i need it because i have the original SF, hate hate hate shimmer, and prefer the distortion and delay on the big board, but if you’re thinking about one this is worth a look. most of the demos are awful, but this one does a good job of illustrating the features though his style and sound are distressingly normie. the product page has a rather nifty interactive demo (scroll down) with a prerecorded track that you can tweak by adjusting the knobs and switches.

I am really curious about your thoughts on that. I've almost bought that pedal a couple of times, but ultimately stopped myself.

it's the only CB pedal i've ever been able to see enough use cases for to justify the cost, and i got it for cheap-ish (a bit over $300 used).

Their cheapest pedal is $349, so I guess you could just flip it as 'new in box' for what you paid if you got something that's lame to you. I think it's about as fair as a lootbox is going to get.

If I had some "fuck you" money to spare, I'd probably grab one. Get that gambler's high.

Shipping and customs covered internationally ain’t bad for those outside the U.S. and I think that means a higher value pedal since the lowest $ ones have LDRs.

On the fence. Gambling on getting one of the sweeteners or a higher cost pedal seems silly, but any of the offerings would be interesting.

i'm not exactly conservative when it comes to spending on gear, but if i was going to blow $300 i think i'd buy something i know i actually want.
