Unrelated gear aside: this is one of those things that you read and you think - damn, it's wild how time happens. I remember when you told 'us' (the bass gear nerd internet slice) that you were having quintuplets. Does not feel like over a decade ago.
Yeah. It's pretty wild. I feel like playing and recording with a band was just a couple of years ago but it's been 12 years and in like three of four it'll be my kids playing in garage bands. They're all heavily involved in band and/or choir in various ways.

It's weird.

This is one of my favorite times of year coming back and catching up with all youse peeps.

Hi Satan, so yeah, it's been a while, huh? Add my name to the list of people who never post their gear and stuff. Sorry.

Anyhoo, I'm kind of wanting something sort of noisy or droney or freezy or glitchy if that makes sense. Something to make sounds while I noodle over it, but not a looper...
Or pitch shifting / bending. Or a drum machine. I still haven't found a drum machine that makes sense to me, although i never did get one of those old alsesis...
Any music format is great.

I love food and drink. Anything local to you. Local hot sauces are always cool.

Oh yeah, good call on the hot sauces. Add that to my list too. Not crazy spicy. Habanero levels and down. Yum.

Hi Satan,

I’m also probably pretty difficult to stalk because I haven’t been to active in the last few years. I started working as a sound guy a few years and haven’t had as much time to play guitar/music as I’d like. I’ve been on this boss pedals/older rat pedal thing the last few years since I’ve haven’t really been keeping up with the new pedals that are coming out. I’ve also been on a big metal/death metal thing after a few years of nothing but hip hop. I bought a BC rich ironbird last year and that has really influenced that and the shift away from synths and samplers as much. I’m not really wanting anything this year, I honestly signed up to spread around my friends/ local stuff to someone on the forum in hopes they enjoy some of it as much as I do. That’s the best part of this to me. Anyway, I still listen to records, like spicy food and have no restrictions on anything.

I had to look that one up. Pointy!

I got a Kramer Baretta with Floyd in midlife-crisis yellow this year. Not as pointy, but stupid fun. I’m surprised at how much non-hair-weedly-deedly stuff it’s good at.

Dear Satan,

I feel like I'm a hard one to read since I've been out of the gear seeking game for a minute. So apologies/you're welcome for the long post. Not expecting every thing mentioned just want to give a good range of things I'm privy to!

It's been a weird year musically. Been a little absent from my synths and fuzz pedals. I stumbled into an EMG ACS pickup for my Taylor 310 and have been having fun processing it through effects and either an Ampeg portaflex 500 or a Supro Thunderbolt. The past month though I've picked up a Jazzmaster again and am thinking of getting a new project together since my previous band stopped playing a year ago.

We recorded two songs for a single if you'd like to hear what music I've recently made. Linked below.

https://recursivedet.bandcamp.com/album ... ad-on-whom

Anyways, what the heck do I actually desire these days? Well Satan, I've been pretty low energy on seeking out new gear the past few years, but looking at spaces I need filled in the ole collection helped me come up with some ideas. I am 100% set on dirt. If you make things it would be a dang pleasure to add it to my collection no matter what it is. And please feel welcome to buy used, we all tight out in this bish and I'm not picky.

A compressor with a clean blend option. Used a wampler mini ego years ago and miss sustaining my cleansss. A Phaser would be dope. My Ibanez PM7 is still kicking and I love it but it is hyper sensitive if I'm playing somewhere with bad electric. I've been curious about the Lastgasp Art Labs Thunder Boxx for a decade. The modulation pedals Lantern Manufacturing makes really intrigue me. But yeah anything modulation or adjacent would be a treat for me!

Synth wise I'm open. I have no idea what lil desktop fun things are available nowadays. I've mostly been aimless in this category unless a homie asks me to collaborate to add synth to a track of theirs. I could probably use another VCA or CV source for my eurorack. I have plenty of space on the rack too. A kooky affordable stand alone desktop synth would be a delightful surprise as well.

Records, tapes, CDs all welcome. Bandcamp links even if thats more your speed. Your music, popular music, local music. To give broad stroke of my taste range these days lets say: Spirit of the Beehive, King Krule, Yaeji, Wes Montgomery, Steve Lacy, Solange, Haruomi Hosono, Nobuo Uematsu, Salami Rose Joe Louis, Alice Coltrane, Ghost Funk Orchestra.

Treats?!! Why yes. If you want to include your favorite snax, candy, hot sauce, beer/wine/spirit, from a local market please do. Homemade treats welcome as well of course. My spice tolerance is solid. I love food. I'm a very curious eater/drinker. :snax:

Other than that I dig graphic novels, photography, and picked up skateboarding again in my 30s. If you're keen on any of those things and want to share a book or hook a boy up with your preferred skate gear, very welcome. :hobbes:

I'm good to receive gift anytime, though I'll probably wait closer to Xmas to open, so if anything will spoil make a note.

part of the best time of xmas is reading this thread and what everyone's into as well as making up my own mind and wishing away. lets go.

I'm sorry for being a difficult stalk, I'll try to make up for it with this poast.
If you want even MORE info you can probably talk to some of the ILFEU peeps.

I have eurorack stuff and am very content with that, it's a difficult thing to gift me, and also expensive.

When it comes to pedals my current board is:

EAE dude v2 -> benson delay -> BSRI phaser -> black arts oath

I am SUPREMELY content with the dude, benson delay and BSRI phaser. The black arts oath could have way more gain imo, it's like a scaled down (and heavily simplified, which I kind of like) black arts pharaoh.

So if anything, I am open to trying something extreme in the form of doom fuzz/metal. I have lots of black arts stuff already (pharaoh, oath as mentioned, LSTR, black forest), I have a standard RAT, and I have an earthbound HM2/throat locust.

1) With that said, I've always been meaning to try the conan fuzz that dunwich nick made that's like a fuzz face on steroids - fuzzthrone!
I think magic pedals make it these days.

2) I've also never tried anything by mountainking and have always wanted a (non clone) megalith (the green and black looks incredible).
edit: the mountainking PWR in black and red looks rad af as well!! Maybe even cooler than megalith, you decide.

3) I think rats might be the coolest sounding circuit, but the filter is very boring. all the variations of rats incorporate that same passive low pass and to me it's not much better than just getting a stock rat, which I have. I have seen dunwich nick make that volt thrower rat with a much more interesting EQ - something like that would be insane.
edit: The BSRI rats always looked good, the SFG looks insane actually.

TL;DR - a heavy af fuzz face, mountainking pedal or interesting rat? if Conan would make use of it, I am interested.
rats>muffs.

I've also been HEAVILY eyeing the low-gain electronics 4u desktop matrix mixer with 3.5mm jacks (in blue ooohh) - it costs way too much, but I will give in at some point. I have been very interested in their 4x4 passive matrix mixers but never got one.
EDIT: I gave in and bought myself the expensive low gain electronics 4u matrix mixer.
sorry satan, but it cost too much for you to get me, and also there was a sale. im sorry k thx.

When it comes to music and sounds I make on the guitar; something in the ballpark of Nails, Conan and Pantera is soundwise very close to my heart, however I've been listening to a lot of King Gizzard lately. Mostly the chill gizzard stuff.

SO we get to vinyls! I try to collect ONE vinyl from each band that I like, and I really like the gizzard. I think their best album might be Quarters!
But polygondwanaland, flying microtonal banana, etc etc are also superb. I have none of their vinyls.

When it comes to eating stuff, I am omnivore, but most of all i am a marzipanovore.

When it comes to wearing stuff, I am omniwear, but most of all i am a t-shirt L wear.

Whatever you get me I'm sure it will stir my gear orc, as we say in the north.

Hey Satan, I almost forgot to post. I am really easy as this is my first Secret Satan so I have no expectations at all! If I have to choose something, I don't have much handmade stuff but I don't have a problem with production gear either. I'm up to my tits in overdrives so that would be redundant at this point, but don't let me stop you. I guess I don't have any pedals that glitch out or play themselves, I prefer ring mods to flangers, and I can always use a reverb. Non-pedals are cool too. It's all good, I trust you!

Music: what is it? What'll we doo with it?

I love my Nord 2 and always eye the other Nords that come along, though, truth b told, during the ILF brownout I deleted the Reverb app after getting burned by somme skantankerous try n' buyers & got shut out of a few hundo & many pains in my cerebrains. Cycling back to thots of thee Nord Drum 1 & a cheap controller since Drum 3 keeps inflating and those elder Drumkat pads are p. cute (it takes a lot to laugh, etc.)! Had a clinch at those Warm Audio Moog Rings, but stopped short when they started to pop up in the As-Is/For Parts category, which I am well versed in, but perhaps out of my league with such a variety of cloning (if it were the OG Moog, well, that's a whole different story). Kept imagining lots of lawyers loosing their chit trying to fidgit it toward sensibility, but that era of sniping early adopters has dot com n' gone. What am I complaining about? I have a great rig that has not changed in a few years (to be brief, it's pretty much eggsacktly the same as b4, sometimes with better cables, also pointy 1.0m picks). Tempting to sell my toob Champ for dollhairs (they are getting up there) & just go full SS Peavey all thee whey, but I don't foresee playing out anytime soon. I need to unload a boatload of older synths, too, but I'm keeping my Proteus 1/2/3 units, because I still h8 computers, but I"m probably gonna pick up whatever H!3 Zoom portable unit as a compromise, and might also sell my Portastudio MKIII for all those rite raissonnes. The current basement mood is giving Paul Bartel's interior design sense from Eating Raoul, but instead of understanding & getting shilled for fyne wynes I have lots of partially working ROMplers that need attention and/or chip lobotomies (join th' clubb).

I'll always eye those Korg Outlet deals (still enjoying my Opsix, though I am tempted to just purchase the Wavestate/Modwave/VvaveVvave softsynth platform & call it a day, though I know my CPU will stamp itself shut the day I ever doo), always love a ring mod, wear an XL shirt, and lost another 50lbs since last ILFMAS (still no milled sugar or caffeine, but I did add whole grains a few months ago again, so I'm sane once again fer d'thymme bean). I eat lots of chickpeas lately, but I also blame the chill finally hittin' skittles, dabbed with Zab's OG hot sauce (worth the buxxx, flavorful & robust). I also love all kinds of vinegar, especially w/ the mother (Bragg's got bought by Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom, et al, so it's been tuff to find a decent replacement), which I use in place of salt (unless it's ssssssmoked salt!). Send me a cookbook you find on clearance at the mall (clicke herr 2 find local malls in yr IBarea you saxxy thang! Lugubrious HIlls is vvaiting 4 ewe!)).

I almost always buy used, and sew should ewe! I've bean inn th' dark for awhile in terms of nu gear, so seeing all the weird and boring chit populating the apps is a little strange, but I know that everything just gets more eggspensive as time lurches 'round us. I still watch lots o' movies (these days mostly b&w horror & weird shot-on-video 90's schtuff) & trying to logg 'em on cursed letterboxd, am mostly nocturnal, but often try to find time inn th' sunn (that guy in the sky!). I love MAE, never owned an EAE but hey!, adore all my Fuzzhuggers comme n' gone, harm percs, monosynths, DIY hommesbuilds, etc., BANNNEDCAMP, $2 Nonesuch CDs, DVD commentaries but not 4Ks (yet?). The following albums are currently & physically stuck with no forseeaable remedy in my CD player in my 30 year old car: Sky Ferreira NIGHT TIME MY TIME, Helmet BETTY, Shellac 1000 HURTS, Scritti Politti WHITE BREAD BLACK BEER, Stone Temple Pilots PURPLE (still pretty fucking terrible!) & Beck ODELAY +2 Japanese Edition, so obviously I listen to alot of community based radio nowadays (and sew shoot ewe!).

Godspeed, 'lil doodle :joy:
