So what's changed ?

Post by Paul_C »

A lot for me - I pulled all my stuff from Bandcamp in protest at the owners' treatment of the staff, sold a lot of pedals, bought a few more, bought more guitars (but so far failed to sell any) and I'm currently contemplating painting some.

I'm not making music at the moment and the only pedals plugged in are a Tonex and a Beebo (mostly for the tuner).

I think the general state of the world, plus a few months of work related stress (my own fault for taking on a number of jobs best avoided) has really squashed my enthusiasm, but I'm hoping at least that the work side of things has been cleared.

Certain waveforms of probability have collapsed, leaving me in this reality. My trans friends and many thousands of trans people I don't know are all scared, and I'm trying not to be so pragmatic about the situation that I seem unsupportive, but I refuse to let the stochastic terrorists win. I just lost my job, but I stopped trying not to get fired a while ago so it wasn't a surprise. Unemployment is improving my sex life. I can't identify any gear that I need at this point (my last acquisition was a Boss IR-2 that was backordered) so it's a good time to stop buying shit. I can get my mailbox dopamine by doing Xmas shopping for family which will provide plenty of packages to trigger the same feeling I've been chasing since my first order from California Cheap Skates in 1990. Winter is coming and I'm formulating my next career move. Leaner and meaner is the plan, in this case literally by losing weight and being less of a "nice" therapist and more of an effective one through formal and independent training. Musically I'm putting less into the bro bands and more into my solo project, though I'm turning it into a 2-piece by adding a vocalist so I can focus on the instrumentation. I turn 49 in a couple of months and I like that it's a square number, but my OCD looks forward to the nice round number of 50.
