i really really didn't like the way the echoczar sounded. but it must be the settings.

what's the 2ed footswitch on the SDD do? modulation on/off? dang, i should have asked for that when i got mine made a little bit ago.
now posting as Forrrest.

Really awesome video, hey! I really enjoyed it and was honoured to be among all those awesome pedals. Taylor's a really cool guy too, always a pleasure to work with him.

It's cool that you mention crazy modulation, I like it kinda crazy too! When I changed over to the 5 knob version of the SDD I changed how the modulation section worked a bit and I was able to make it way more dramatic... downright weird even with huge pitch bends. It went so weird I had a few customers ask me if that was on purpose or what I intended people to do with such a dramatic sound.. I ended up dialing it back a whole bunch so it wouldn't freak anybody out!

I have one other modulation trick I want to implement with the SDD and the new RRR too.. a way to change the shape of the modulation waveform. I use a symmetrical triangle wave but ramps up and down would sound really cool, I was thinking a new toggle switch may be in order...

You got it, buddy, that second switch turns the modulation off and on. Taylor's SDD is from an earlier pcb revision where the board doesn't fill the space around the stomp switch like they currently do... I'm not sure if there'd be room under the pcb now to add that second stomp switch. I was thinking though, that would be a cool momentary switch to add to the pedal for a 'hold' feature, hold it down for modulation kinda thing. Too complicated of an addition to add to an old version but could be cool one day down the road.

You can hold the switch for infinite repeats? I like that idea too... the ultimate SDD shall have both of those tricks up its sleeve!

+1 on the infinite repeats

+1 on the modulation waveform (oh snap!)

And while we're @ it, how's about an FX-LOOP!
Yeah, you knew I was gonna say that.

Regarding the video, I thought the SDD had a very usable and pleasant tone.
One day, I'll get my hands on a SDD with all the fixin's.

PS: I think the VMSD is NOT all that. (imo)

I have a DC Timeline on the way, it should have been In the shootout!

Haha, you can count on an effects loop with the ultimate SDD! Pretty far down the road and all but I'm excited to work on it too. By next summer I'd like to have the SDD and Cosmichorus all decked out with more features and more availability.

I've never heard the VMSD but I've got a regular Super Delay and I think it totally rules, really fun and inspiring pedal.

Ryan, are you some kind of magical genie that does nothing but work on pedals? Because it sounds like you are.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

I thought the VMSD had too much going on in the sound, to be honest. It didn't fall away as sweetly as the SDD or the Moog. Maybe they went a little overboard with the chorus.

The Echoczar did seem a bit grainy and distorted, particularly for being over twice the price of almost every other pedal there. I didn't dislike it, though.

The Aqua Puss is a classic. And the Carbon Copy is similarly great in almost every test I've seen/heard.

The DMM was very stiff in the repeats. It had a more rigid but grainy feel like the Echoczar. To me at least. It's a bit unclear because the number of repeats was clearly limited and not drawn out enough to fully hear the qualities.

The Memory Lane was a bit bland. Nout' special, really.

The Hughes & Kettner was a HUGE surprise. It had boundless character and brilliance. Everything the VMSD SHOULD of been, but without the mushiness of an overt layer of chorus.

The Roland was nice but too washy and raspy.

The Moog was probably my favourite. But I only listened to the whole thing once. The Dr. Scientist and Replex coming close behind. By the way, a SDD with an effects loop would truly seal the deal.
