Aw, man, I hadn't heard about Mimi either. What a voice.

Gutting. I never really hear people talk about my favourite Low record (Thrust) or my favourite Low song, but this Peel session version really shows of Mimi's vocals, even if the studio version is 'better'

Man putting this together is giving me the chills. I haven't gotten into their past 3 or 4 albums

Here's my favorite Low:

I didn't hear this one until 2008. That year I spent a month or two in New Orleans working and this was on constant rotation as I drove around that city:

And fuck, have to add this live version here, fuck:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku0D3cDoAkY

Witches was on constant rotation when I was on another job in Boston in 2011 or so. I remember listening to this album, C'mon, along with PJ Harvey's Let England Shake and Sonic Youth's soundtrack Simon Werner a Disparu on repeat during the summer.

These tracks off Drums and Guns were on constant rotation when this album came out. I haven't listened to Violent Past or Murderer in many years. Crushing.

Beautiful:

Epic:
Dinosaur Act

The Curtain Hits the Cast was my first Low experience. Pure beauty:

The Plan

Over the Ocean
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrfvMQtsoM

I'll end with these:

California

Walk Into the Sea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiMFGIsw1lM

Nothing but Heart - I have probably blasted the opening of this song a million times. Especially when I was in Boston working as mentioned above. The job was lame so I remember the opening of this song was the first thing I would listen to in the morning during the commute. I have always wondered what pedal he is using for the opening. I have never built a Fuzz Factory or played a Great Destroyer but that's what I am guessing.

The whole song is an absolute banger. It just builds and builds and builds. For me this might be their best song. There's so many good ones but this one is so powerful to me, so uplifting, the end-all.

This breaks my heart. Their music has so much passion, heartache, love. Full of fucking life. Rest in piece, Mimi.

I think Laowiz laid it down in the perfect way. Most of these tracks are also my favorites, i'd just add Silver Rider from The Great Destroyer 'cause it's the song that introduced Low to me.

Agreed Laowiz, that's a great list.

I always loved Secret Name, from top to bottom it's my favorite of theirs though I love them all. Two-step is, to my brain, one of the most beautiful songs ever

This one is really sad for me, she was a really nice person too. Or at least they were to me. I did not know them but had a couple small conversations with them after shows in the later 90's and they were very giving of their time and thoughts. I also love the way they took chances, pushed their music a bit, they weren't stagnant. The last couple records were especially so. I feel for Alan, he must be devastated.

I just listened to Silver Rider in the car. This one and tons of other Low I need to sink back into. They are one of those bands that I don't usually listen to full albums of and tend to focus on a select through. This track is amazing, there are so many others too.

I listened to Two-Step right after listening to Silver Rider (above). Such a good song. That's so awesome you were able to meet them. They seem like they would be just really genuine kind souls. In the early fall of 1993, the band I was in went on a short tour to the midwest and east coast. At some point we played a show in Duluth at like a ballet studio or something. I think there were some kids there but not many people paying attention. But I vaguely remember the person who set up the show being just slightly older than us and being kind and a white dude. It's a blurred memory but I like to think it was Alan who put on the show.
