I suppose EHX was gonna have to pay attention to the chase for the non-Deluxe Electric Mistress tone eventually. A little surprised it took so long. Will check the demos and watch for comparisons, since I do dig those tones.

Hell, the in-house demo sounds crap. Smart money is that it’s the now-discontinued Deluxe Electric Mistress XO with a new paint job.

There's at least three pedal reveals coming today.

1) Walrus has added stereo outs and two new modes to the Slö. The Slöer debuts in a familiar blue graphic style, along with a more minimalistic black finish.

specs/details: https://www.walrusaudio.com/products/sl ... 1416140011

(mostly ambient iOS apps, synths)

(guitar, pads, synths, vocals, piano loops after 13:00)

(percussion, acoustic samples/loops, guitar)

2) I'm not sure if these sold out in a couple of minutes, or if there's a delay in readying the site. (was scheduled for a noon EST drop)

(this dropped in the CBA newsletter and it's already circulating on blogs, so I'm sharing it a few hours ahead of the scheduled 11 am EST announcement)

https://www.chasebliss.com/reverse-mode-c
https://www.chasebliss.com/small-batch-bliss
The idea is simple:

A made-to-order line of special edition pedals, and everyone that wants one can get one. There is no limit or selling out – simply order within the month-long preorder period and we’ll make a pedal just for you.

The whole point is that everyone who wants one can get one – but it will likely be at least a year between batches.

Doing things this way is so helpful for so many reasons, but the big one is that it lets us take chances and make things like Reverse Mode C. I’m grateful that it let me collaborate and spend some time with Steve Bragg.

I might trade in Habit for Reverse Mode C. I don't really use the long buffer and the stereo could be fun.
Knobs demo makes it sound like the rich man's Count to 5.

Yeah, that was my impression, too. If one likes the chirps of Habit and CT5, this seems like a simpler interface (at a premium price).

I quite like the trem textures, so I think the RMC will pair nicely with other delays/modulation/reverb.

OA in Australia is offering up its second pedal. This one is a filter/modulator + delay. ($399 AUD / $269 USD / 245 EU)

https://www.otisaudio.com.au/

Skipping past the 5-minute mark, you'll hear some PLL-esque stuff and some gritty psych/sci-fi stuff.

...I picked up a Love Beams last year from Otis, and it's fun. I'll eventually try a Lifetones, too.

I must profess my ignorance (it's late & I am olde), but this video popped up and is now my favorite episode of Black Mirror :

I still don't know what this video is actually about, but more power 2 'em :zen: :snax: :zen:

This seems a bit like a junior Afterneath on the more extreme settings. On tamer settings, it seems like a duller, basic room verb. This might be a good pickup for people needing two opposite reverbs in one non-premium/small-format pedal. ($199 USD / 249 €)

ROSS is back...

https://www.instagram.com/ross_electronics/?hl=en

Image
JHS Pedals has partnered with Cameron Ross to relaunch ROSS. Released in 2023, this fifth era of ROSS includes the Distortion, Phaser, Compressor and Chorus, as well as the brand new ROSS Fuzz which pulls its circuit from a 1960s Kustom amplifier.
cons: they're still a bit vanilla and less versatile than most modern pedals
they're being relaunched by JHS
they're quite basic for $189
the flanger, delay, and any large/dual-purpose pedals are absent
they're mass-produced and not flashy, so in a crowded market, I expect these to do poorly on the secondhand market (your $189 purchase becomes a $125 offload)

pros: they have two modes, so they exceed the originals (ex. chorus has a vibrato mode, other pedals offer vintage/modern settings)
they're straightforward and uncomplicated (no MIDI, two pots only)

Yeah. It looks sharp. Too bad the grandson/nephew couldn't get things going, but the pandemic crushed any chance of an independent relaunch.

Ross Audibles didn't have such great marketing. Price wasn't that attractive either. :snax:

Just listened to that fuzz demo. Doesn't sound too bad.
