Alternative to EHX Memory Boy?
Years ago I had the Memory Boy and loved the expression control of the delay time, but it was noisy and EHX switches always shit the bed. I'm looking for something with the same exp control over delay time. Could be analog, could be digital, does not need modulation or many other features. I really haven't fucked with delay in a long time so I look to the collective wisdom of ILF for help!

the boss re20 responds very nicely to an expression pedal, and i'm sure the new re2 and re202 are the same.
if you want more analog sounds, i bet the dod rubberneck works well. i liked mine but never tried the expression. it can get pretty noisy at long delay times though. there's also the carbon copy deluxe, which i haven't tried.
most of the other pedals with expression that i remember are multidelays like the timeline. though all of the strymon full size delays do have expression jacks.

I love the Rubberneck but no expression control. You would have to use the “Rubbernecking” momentary or futz with tap tempo to do live time changes with your feet.
No experience of the Supro delay pedal, but I’m pretty sure it can do expression control of delay time and it’s BBD.

Will digital delays do the same weird shit that analog delays do when you fuck with the time setting?Bartimaeus wrote:the boss re20 responds very nicely to an expression pedal, and i'm sure the new re2 and re202 are the same.

depends on the digital pedal, some do and some don't. but the boss space echo pedals will, because they're emulating a tape echo. that's true for fancier stuff like the timeline and dd200 as well.John wrote:Will digital delays do the same weird shit that analog delays do when you fuck with the time setting?Bartimaeus wrote:the boss re20 responds very nicely to an expression pedal, and i'm sure the new re2 and re202 are the same.
not the best video, but at list it gives you some idea how the expression pedal causes smooth pitch bending when you adjust the time:
