I never saw the hype of Chase Bliss / Cooper FX but I am just a lame ass Les Paul Dad that makes noise in my headphones for about 3hours a month (lol)

I am happy that he is making a good choice for himself, and I can completely understand with part shortages, rent, labor and the amount of effort to put a product out... the disappointment of people marking your product up an additional 50 to 100%. All of the work and none of the payback.

Gotta get the flipper hype somehow.
Keep a stash of 100 pedlols, make a few alts on reverb, sell them to cover the cost of the horse's veterinary bills.
Retire in the bahamas.
Recline on beach with hooks for hands slowly stroking the sand, their sharp cool metal satisfying and serene.

I wonder where he's off to. If he got a corp gig or if he said, I like the pedal making but not the business so I'll go bring my designs to another builder? The flipper thing sucks, but now is the time to snag things if you have any interest because the flipping will 100% happen. I snagged the arcades cards as they came out, all except the ambient endeavors one.

Yesterday towards the end of the day I checked Reverb and between V1, V2 and CBA, there were 24 Gen Loss Pedals sold on there. Insane.

There's a CBA Generation Loss on Reverb for $3,500 (free shipping!) with this description:

** I am pricing the pedal this high because it is the amount it is worth for me to sell. **

* I’d not intended to sell this pedal, due to my extreme admiration of both Tom and Joel but due to Tom's recent announcement I want to make sure mine is available to an individual who is willing to make the investment. *

The $2,750 one (plus $10 shipping! Intolerable!) doesn't even have a description for me to laugh at.

On a more positive note, buried in the comments on his farewell IG post Tom says that he's going to put out one more Arcades card. So keep an eye out for that.

Glad I’m not Secret Santa pedging. I may have done a thing. Or two.

Interesting.

I can imagine that dealing with parts shortages, supply chain snafus, and rabid flipper-driven
speculation, something that was once rewarding and engaging could easily become too much
of a headache.

I only ever managed to buy one CooperFX pedal and it was from a fellow ILFer who received
it for winning one of the "Best ILF Pedalboard" competition thingies.

People snickered when I said I was buying pedals, so that one day I could afford a mansion.

I ask...who's laughing now? *muhahahaha*

I do wonder if it's time to sell up. I use the Gen Loss pretty regularly and I don't let go of pedals too often, but for what they're bringing, I could get something like a Shallow Water + another good used pedal or two... or a whole damn guitar. Or should I wait to see if they go Klon?

If you've already made the decision, a few hundred extra really won't make a difference, in the long run, right? You can't take it with you.

And besides - today's Generation Loss is tomorrow's Morley Bad Horsie......or so the legend goes.

I’m guessing that the sounds will re-emerge in another form. All the same, I’m not offing my Gen Loss V2 because I’m unwilling to take the risk of losing those sounds.

It was pretty crazy seeing Cooper FX go from a nice dude tinkering in the Shark Tank to one of the hottest unobtanium builders. I gave up even trying to get my hands on the last few releases. Still got a 125b Gen Loss and AARP kicking around. Hopefully after some time he either partners with some other builder to start putting stuff out again or just releases the code. Maybe once stuff calms down Teej212 will start making appearances here again.

A local shop had two Arcades cards lingering (the pedals themselves being long gone), so I picked up the Pitch card. I hadn't gotten it before because I don't do a ton of pitch-shifty stuff, but now that I have it I like it quite a bit. It really comes to life if you crank the Clock way down so the pitches come out all crunchy and randomly delayed. It's prompted me to really investigate slow-clocking the effects on the other cards. Previously I'd only really done it to change the flavor of the degradation effects on the Generation Loss and LoFi cards.

If anyone needs a Synth card, Eclipse Music in West St. Paul, MN, had one as of Friday. https://www.eclipsemusic.org/
