I gave it a try, and just couldn't get a bass sound that I loved very quickly. It was easy to get good results on guitar with the recommended settings: (1. everything maxed except treble almost maxed, or 2. everything around 10:00, volume to taste). I was a little rushed at the time, so maybe I could get better results on bass if I spent time dialing it in. What is the suggested settings for a crushing Godflesh type bass? I have a Pbass and SVT specifically because they sound great by default with very little fuss, so it would be ironic that I need to really tweak a Boss distortion pedal in order to have my setup sound good. Anybody got settings to recommend? I do love Godflesh, an important band to my development, and never really considered before that I could get a similar tone (duh).

(Could be that my usual preferred amp settings weren't right for a Godflesh sound)

I thought the official Godflesh HM-2 setting was with the low and high knobs "crosseyed", i.e., 3:00 and 9:00 respectively. Not sure about the gain level, though.

The gain knob on a HM-2 between 3-8 o'clock is completely useless and barely does anything - but the cross eyed EQ does work for bass! I've definitely cranked that setting many a time.

I've been thinking of rehousing mine and changing the gain knob to an all or nothing switch, 'cause it has no range anyway.

Ooh that's a good tip, thanks! Definitely did not try that yet.

I'd go 4 position notched pot on mine since I can tease out 4 levels of gain on it lol

Yea, I want far more than that - it doesn't have "many" variations, mind you - the 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, and ...anything past that is the same pretty much for me there.

Mine lives at either 9:00 or 10:00, but I'm going mostly into dead clean amps.

The Behringer copy is pretty great, especially for the money. It costs pocket change. I got mine brand new for £17.

And it's bright pink, which is death metal as fuck, probably.
