That is pretty interesting.
So's this (passive, 3.5mm jacks):

oh yeah
seems like there's a bit more control on there than my earlier version?

Yes. I am really into that. However I do not have any money.

No cash right now but if this is the new format from now on, it is definitely on the list of future acquisitions.

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
i have no idea what's going on in the guts of this thing but i am very starry eyed about the whole set-up/pastabilities:

[edit: i suppose the name is a clue that this is a passive rm circuit?
]
[edit edit - the module does draw power, so
]
[final edit - i guess it's not *that* sexxy, but, yeah, i am *really* into ring modulators]
little demo at the beginning-ish of this vidya:

really liking the sound of secondary oscillators in the "dc" input

hmm i say, hmmm
https://reverb.com/item/39418082-mono-d ... ator-pedal

"The Gilbert Cell Freq Mod is a totally discrete (transistorized) frequency (semi-)inverter pedal. A Gilbert cell mixer is a type of analog multiplier implemented here in its original transistor form. When overdriven, the cell produces its own saturation effect in addition to the frequency inversion that is carried out by multiplying the input guitar signal with the internal discrete oscillator.
(For reference, frequency inversion shares some similarities with ring modulation).
We are classifying this pedal as a frequency semi-inverter because the internal modulation scheme allows for bleed-through of the original signal dependent on the depth control.
Additionally, when the depth control is at maximum the internal carrier oscillator is partially modulated by the input signal which allows for audio-rate modulated frequency inversion."

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
I read that as "frequency invasion" instead of "frequency inversion".

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
Gilbert cells are fun, I whipped up a Gilbert cell PCB late last year for internal experiments. It will toe the line of ring modulation when set up a certain way. My goals were/are more VCA based, and I'm hoping the addition of a transistor tracer for really close tolerance matching will get me closer..
Anyway, the Gilbert cell can really shine as a distortion module - hopefully Mono Division worked some of that in as well.
