Nah, the jfet is fine. I *think* the low section is doing what it is supposed to do. The high section seems to be a bit off though. Running high gain transistors on the end of it seems to accentuate the misbiased feedback sound but i can get it to sound better with low gainers. Just not sure that is how it is "supposed" to sound. Gonna box it up anyway to see if that eliminates some of the feedback issues.

I'm back. I ordered PCB's for the input jacks. I will try to stuff the second board so I can see what parts I am missing.

For people that have studied the circuit and know a bunch about OD/fuzz circuits, does this pedal appear to be based on anything? Like how a lot of drives are takes on TS9s or Rats or whatever, I'm curious as to what the "DNA" of the pedal is if anyone has any ideas?

It's not really based on anything classic. One could say its fairly original but also nothing mind blowing at the same time. Probably a lot of time was spent tweaking values.

Cascading gain stages in parallel with different frequency responses that mix together. The reverse-active mode transistors are the least common part of the design.

what is the final word on the cap values? is the schematic by jonwayne up to date? what were the results of everyone using 100nF caps? PCB's should be here soon. I will get this pedal built and shipped soon. then I am %100 done with the guitar pedal business. I don't want to keep doing this. I had a good run with this hobby but it takes time and there is no money in it.

I've yet to tackle mine, all of my J201 are SOT23 so I need to pull out my leg extenders before diving in.

I appreciate the sentiment, thank you! That said, I should be able to manage these just fine once I set things into motion.
