The finish on that Fender is bizarre. It looks like a toy. If they had painted it a classic Fender color it would have had an interesting sports car vibe.

The deal with that one, that isn't explained well in this clip, was that the visible top was just a thin piece of something that you could have any graphic on and it attached superficially to the body. I've seen him explain the concept more clearly elsewhere.


Yeah, though, if that was the example finish to try and hype the prototype, it may have hindered, rather than helped.

He explained that well enough in the video. Fender just had really bad taste in finishing that one.
