There’s not wrong with having pedals made this way. Unless you’re some asshole charging 900 for a ducking reverb with sliders that move on there own! Ohhh! So cool! :eyeroll:

It sickens me that the pedals industry is what it is. It used to be fun, at least for me. All the shit that comes out is garbage. Hah. Just kidding I’m still a whore. But I am sick of everything being shitty. What’s up with the fuzz? What’s up with the fuzz?

I posted a link on CNZ Instagram that pointed to where they bought aka “built” their guitars from (a quick search shows you can buy them from China for $50-75 cheaper!!)

They banned me.

Pretty sure the dude that ran Gear Supply Co to the ground is also behind CNZ; at least the marketing.

Another shitty company playing “family values” to get the PnW crowd while selling them shit they can buy from China.

ZVex vexter are Taiwan made. It's not a bad thing, but I was surprised to see that I the box.

WMD, Cusack, and Darkplace do builds for other people. In the Eurorack world, a huge amount of it is outsourced. Snazzy builds are by Bastl but I think they were someplace else first (which is a good thing compared to his personal builds).

Wren & Cuff outsource to local individual builders and I have an acquaintance that builds for them as a side gi). He made a lot of those new dinosaur jr pedals. I kind of like this system. Build at home, learn some stuff. I could imagine it could go bad fast though.

I think Koma is set up to do other builds too.

I tend to think of some places more as designers I guess.

tho harvesting them from rotting hulks of abandoned industrial era cast-offs seems to be righteous....

Super interesting! I think it’s cool to see the pedal community working together, and when it’s transparent that seems to be the best way to maintain integrity.
It’s when companies market themselves as something they’re not that bothers me.
If I was a pedal company I’d definitely be a designer because I can hardly build an edible sandwich let alone a working effect pedal.

I often think about the true origin of a lot of the products I buy, but find I rarely ask that question to myself about the effect pedals I have. I think it’s important to know. One of the things I’ve been thinking a lot about lately is the origin of all the components that go into creating an effect pedal, how they’re produced, under what conditions, etc. I would imagine there are components being produced in less than ethical conditions, which is shitty. I know the phone I’m typing this on is the same however. It’s unavoidable I guess.
