He builds pedals in a suspect limited run model so they are ridiculously overhyped. I think he mostly known for making those hpf-things they love over there. I have his PEQ and it's really well built and wasn't overpriced. I have his overdrive too and it's eh.. functional? It sounds good and it worked well for my bass setup but it got in my way mentally. I got alot of compliments from drunk dudes when I had it always on so I dont feel like selling it. Cosmicevan has alot of them.

I used Darkglass stuff for awhile. B3K and B7k.
I think they pump the high mids for bass players to cut through a denser mix - 2 guitars in metal. It helps the bass player be heard but maybe not felt. One difference between the typical DG user and me is that I down tune a bunch.
I did use those pedals in a band, i had a tone that sounded good live and in the mix but it was insanely clangy without being buried in guitars.

B3k and 7k are my faves.
But I think Colin Marston's bass tone is the ultimate tone for literally all music, which I think might invalidate most of my opinions.

That’s quarter-assed at best.
The fundamental when tuned to E is on the lowest end of human hearing, at around 900 millihurts. Basically tuning lower than E is reducing your effective musicianship by having to amplify sub frequencies that only elephants are capable of hearing - and even then we're only talking the larger Galapagos elephant, not your garden variety American Plains Elephant. If you want to lose your fundamental and have to rely on amplifying fragile upper harmonics good for you, but you are clearly not a bassist.

Jaco was only slightly above average.
I always found the shit funny as the majority of my time on the site was on the dark side where you had guys with 5 strings with low Bs that were made in the 1800s
also... has anyone actually been on there lately? the fuck? it's like the whole site in stuck in a time loop of dumb... I mean I hated the place for the most part for years but it's like the worst elements are now all that is left...

He didn't even play a 51 p with flats

so let me ask you bass experts a question...i realized that if i'm going to incorporate the Jazz Bass into my loops i'll need a bass amp and probably a crossover at about 200 Hz (just below guitar range) because guitar speakers crap out at about 70 Hz. i want to get a 15' Hartke cab. what would be a good, reasonably-priced head? i don't really need drive on the amp; i would like big clean sound i can fuck up with pedals. and i won't need to fill a space larger than a big club in the foreseeable future, so i won't need 2000 watts of power, especially because solid-state amps are louder than tube amps watt-for-watt. whaddaya got?
