My first fuzz pedal! Played it through a Sovtek Mig 100 paired in stereo with a Marshall JCM 900 and did that exclusively for two years. It was awesome.

The FZ2 is the first pedal I ever bought new from a store, and I didn't really understand what a fuzz pedal was or why I couldn't make it sound like quicksand or Fugazi or whatever so I probably used it twice circa 1999 and then put it back in the box and didn't touch it for 5 or 6 years. I think I traded it in when I found an OG fender blender (purchased solely because I had read that MBV used one) and I now have some regrets, though I still have that blender.

Hasn't arrived yet! Has been shipped though, so maybe in a week or so I assume.

I found an HM-2 on kijiji (popular canadian craigslist) sometime in 2015 for 50$. That's pretty much my only lucky break as far as guitar gear goes. Still have it and use it every now and then, more often as a thickener for other more scooped fuzz tones.

When I record things I often can't decide what I like most so I use everything on top of everything else and break my brain trying to mix them in a way that compliments eachother.

I already have a fuzz from Nine of Swords that gives me a tone that I really love so I'm probably going to use the FZ-2 as guitar 2 when I record.

Two Twin Earth tracks on the left, two FZ-2 tracks on the right, kind of thing.

Or maybe one track of each pedal on each side and see how they blend.

I found my HM-2 on Kijiji around the same time, this very nice young lady needed the money to see some screamocore band “From Autumn to Ashes” or some shit like that, she even brought it to the hospital I work at the same day if I could pay her in cash. I was very happy!!

Oh my god haven't heard that name in years.

HUGE band in the mid 00's.

Was never a big fan but they had a couple decent jams. When everyone was jacked up on Poison The Well plenty of similar bands got a share of the pie. Hopesfall too was similar. I love the song The End of an Era by Hopesfall.

I got it today and played around for a few minutes with it.

It's definitely more throaty than my nine of swords Twin Earth, which is awesome because they will stack super nice in a mix and compliment eachother with their different tones.

My biggest surprise so far is boost mode. It sounds like the type of nice and smooth distortion that I've been trying to get when playing Mastodon type riffs where you want unmuted strings to flow into eachother instead of building up to a fizzy mess. I'm probably the problem here cause I can't play for shit, but having a tone that helps....helps!

I blame Wizard for the FZ2 craziness, is this what it felt like to try to find a Tube Screamer at a decent price post SRV? I'm a fan of okay priced re-issues and decent clones when it comes to these things hahahaha
