Re: Red Panda Tensor
dang! this update looks pretty cool. I sold my preorder version when they did that black on black run last year so hopefully I can update that one. Also pretty cool they are still updating these.

That's good to hear! Honestly I'd take longer loop time over stereo audio, by a long shot.Dowi wrote:Just checked, and obviously my Tensor is pre-2019.

The extended loop time would be super useful for the use I have of it. If those updates won't come for earlier units I'll see down the line if I can upgrade it with a newer one.
I'm going to update anyway later today to see if those "fixes and improvements" are audible.
They added this note on the blog post:
"We know that some of you are disappointed that you bought earlier Tensors and cannot take advantage of the longer loop time, and we totally understand. Unfortunately, the earlier Tensors use a different processor, have less RAM, and do not have a stereo audio path. The processor used in the later Tensors did not exist when the Tensor was initially released. The extra processing power was needed for the Particle 2, and as a small company it makes sense for us to use common parts across products where possible. All of the other updates, including TRS MIDI input, web editor, and bug fixes. We will continue to support all Tensors. We plan to have a low-cost user-installable upgrade path available in the future, but we do not have a date to announce at this time."
Great deals with lordgalvar, filipre, seten, DannDubblewe, PumpkinPieces, backwardsvoyager, DADGBD, jwar, JonnyAngle, dandolin, pd~, Dungus, dminner

Re: Red Panda Tensor
I made contact and was offered another method to try, which also didn't have any effect. I'm going to get my laptop (which has Windows 10 on it) back off my daughter and try again at some point as I like the idea of midi-switched presets as much as anything.
I do have to fix the laptop first though, as apparently it won't charge up (there's every chance the socket or charger has been damaged if she's still the same daughter who broke such things when she was younger) *sigh*

Re: Red Panda Tensor
Got mine updated a couple days ago, everything seems to be going well so far. 2011 MacBook Pro. Used the yt video instructions on red panda site to update, not the readme instructions included in the firmware download. I haven't tried stereo yet, but Im also pretty hyped about the editor. Option for analog bypass is nice. I don't think they've added midi sync though, which would be great(it IS a looper). I don't doubt that they're working on it, especially since particle2 editor has midi sync option. Craziest fw improvement to like anything I've ever owned, regardless. Who knew these mfs had trs in and out the whole time??! P.S. sorry to the earlier adopters :/ sounds like they'll get it figured out for those units eventually...

Re: Red Panda Tensor
ok, so i updated the firmware even if my Tensor is pre-2019 just to see/hear if there are major improvements sound-wise and I’ve noticed a thing.
When using the Tensor in real-time mode (no loops/not using the HOLD fs), if I set the ON FS for latching mode, I hear I constant rhythmic fluctuation under the wet signal, like a delay.
The strange thing is that it doesn’t happen at all if I set the ON fs on momentary mode and keep it held down.
I was using it for chorus-like sounds, so with pitch shifting set to +1/+2 and the speed knob rolled down enough to reach that chorusing/flanging point.
Curious to know if anybody else experiences this issue.

Re: Red Panda Tensor
I DID actually hear that rhythmic fluctuation after updating mine too.. definitely noticeable when doing the flange thing

Not a good news but at least I am happy not to be the only one.wolflangis wrote:I DID actually hear that rhythmic fluctuation after updating mine too.. definitely noticeable when doing the flange thing
The strangest thing is that it doesn't happen at all when thefootswitch is set to momentary, it doesn't make sense (apparently - I'm sure there some logical explanation).
Gonna throw them a message and see if they have any answers/solutions.

Re: Red Panda Tensor
Might not the issue be that you updated the firmware even though your Tensor is pre-2019?Dowi wrote:ok, so i updated the firmware even if my Tensor is pre-2019 .

Re: Red Panda Tensor
No, they released a dedicated firmware for pre-2019 units, with just some of the improvements.Seance wrote:Might not the issue be that you updated the firmware even though your Tensor is pre-2019?Dowi wrote:ok, so i updated the firmware even if my Tensor is pre-2019 .

yeah, mine is the new tensor and still has the same thing happening.Dowi wrote:No, they released a dedicated firmware for pre-2019 units, with just some of the improvements.Seance wrote:Might not the issue be that you updated the firmware even though your Tensor is pre-2019?Dowi wrote:ok, so i updated the firmware even if my Tensor is pre-2019 .

Re: Red Panda Tensor
I scored a used Tensor today. Loving it so far!
My only issue is that I cant get it to configure with my M-Audio expression pedal
I reset it and it made zero difference. Any Tensor users have ideas?

Re: Red Panda Tensor
Honestly I don't know, I suppose you've already read the manual to see how to configurate it properly? Iirc you have to hold one of the footswitches while plugging it.deeohgee wrote:I scored a used Tensor today. Loving it so far!

Yep, did all that but no luck so far!

Maybe the Red Panda peeps have a secret jedi reset trick or something? Sound like you tried everything else, it's worth the shot no?deeohgee wrote:Dowi wrote:Honestly I don't know, I suppose you've already read the manual to see how to configurate it properly?
