If the CR60 came as a head I'd probably get that, but its only offered as a combo which is cool too tho. I have four combos, I want a head lmao. I was leary of controlling the volume of the 120 , but got a chance to really test one out not long ago and was really surprised at how good the master volume is! Quieter bedroom/TV levels with the ability to send it into orbit when I want is a huge plus in my eyes and it sounds great for what it is for me. Its gonna get ran clean most of the time for the pedals but I'll probably hit the dirty channel with a SD1 from time to time

My gear goals are to not focus so much on gear and just get better technique and write more songs.

I will however likely buy a drum synthesiser as well as a keyboard (something simple to control my synthesisers).

I might get a new reverb pedal for my guitar board, I can't promise to go an entire year without buying some reverb.

Other than that, I'm gonna keep it simple this next year.

My next big purchase will likely be an OM guitar, but that won't be until the latter days of next year.

Instead of several cheap things, been considering one expensive-assed thing... I keep hearing the word Zoia being whispered in my ear. Part of me thinks if we get back to being able to have shows, it'll help fulfil my dream of needing to haul less stuff around — and another part of me thinks if we don't have shows for another year it'll give me something deep to explore with.

In my mind I could do a lot of cool weirdness with it... and use it as a sound source as well as a manipulator.

Kinda want a PurPLL as well whenever there's another batch. And I'll inevitably covet whatever Pladask comes up with next year...
Damn... articulating these thoughts actually lead to all of this happening before the end of 2020. Goals achieved, 2021 is a win!

Sell a combo amp or two and build a new setup based around the Hilbish preamp I've just ordered. Since the clean tones are likely to let me wanting another amp I plan on getting an SMS classic tube preamp (or maybe revelation preamp), a good power amp, either 2 channel or with some kind of amp switcher in front of it (I have a mooer babybomb for now) and finally getting a good cab. Most likely a 2x12. That way I can switch between a fantastic clean amp to a fantastic dirty/heavy amp on the spot :)

I also have a Xylem custom guitar on order but will likely not get it in 2021... Waiting list is pretty long

When it comes to pedals I don't think I want anything other than another Count To 5 (I've bought two new ones and one s/h and currently have none).
The CT5 is somewhere between Canada and here and I've sold (I think) five pedals that weren't being used already.

So at this rate, unless something is released that I just have to try, I'm not going to buy anything in 2021.

This makes me both happy and sad, so maybe I'll have to buy a new guitar, or a second Katana combo so I can record in stereo.

*sigh* I knew when I said I wasn't going to buy anything it was asking for trouble. The only comfort I can take is that it's not yet 2021.

I still might buy a guitar though.

Those silver metal handles makes it look like a CR60 could be converted into a amp head.

DO IT. i have an Eastman OM which is so fucking great i can hardly tell you. tracking two acoustics with a dreadnought on one side and an OM on the other is just beautiful.

I've actually considered an Eastman E20 OM. But it's too high end for me at present. We'll see... I need something that emphasises harmonics more than my d'nought, which is too fundamental-orientated.

they're a bit spendy, but if you poke around on eBay/Reverb you can often find new or open-box Eastmans for a couple of hundy less than MAP. i'm thinking about their slope-shoulder acoustics, and you can find the 20-series for less than the 10-series if you look hard and are patient.

I get this bigly. That said, I've recently found intense joy and solace in just playing to play. Putting aside the rewiring the board projects, the writing, the recording, the learning new gear goals and just started playing. All that stuff will always be there, but what good is it if you aren't having fun? If you really need to capture something, just do it. I can't/don't do drums and I have always let this hold me back from "releasing" stuff. I decided, screw it. Just make stuff without drums....see where it goes, and if later, I want to add drums I can, but this is where I'm at, capture it.

what i want to do is get the Lead II, spend the necessary time working my way into its capabilities, and then devote time to 1. generating new ideas that don't rest on nice, pretty tones and 2. dividing time between the Lead II and my acoustics to generate ideas for songs as i also try to piece lyrics together i've always struggled with lyric writing because i didn't know what to say other than in songs which were inspired by particular people or thoughts, but now i feel like i have a palette of love, loss, joy, pain, righteous rage at my own flaws and those of the world around me, and that pesky dialectic between the certainty of onrushing doom and the desperate need to find something, anything, to make life worth living in the face of the ever-encroaching darkness for subject matter. i want to create songs and music which people can use as tools, pillows, weapons, or flowers, and music which creates environments where the listener can retreat for respite from all the horror. that's what my favorite artists, from Mingus to the Dead to Radiohead and MBV have done, and i would also like my work to be of use. i still believe that music can be a transformative shared experience that raises consciousness and thus helps to, erm, "save the world" as Phil Lesh said about the Dead in 1968. i just want to do something good in this world that will reach people more than 100 feet away.
