I have no desire to own anything CBA have made thus far, but I think all of their shit is top notch and offers a decent value proposition.
If it makes you happy go out and spend your cash on it. Who cares.
If I was going to get wound up about gear I think there'd be more to say about overdrives that cost CBA money

Speaking of tremelo latency, are there any pedals that reset the attack of the trem lfo with based on input signal rather than an internal LFO?

hmmm, interesting - you mean, like a looping ASDR? I guess the EHX and Pigtronic attack decay pedals are basically doing that each time you reset the envelope with your playing. Pigtronix is Analogic and ginormous, EHX is digi and smaller - EHX has some additional tricks with ability to reset the envelope without terminating the previously generated ASDR cycle (which some people call "polyphobic" tho that use of the term has always furrowed my brow).

If all you want out of your pedals are individual sounds, I 100% agree that Chase Bliss pedals make no sense for you, and I also agree with the original poster that tons of people buy Chase Bliss because of hype, and then under-utilize the pedals. You can get all those sounds out of much cheaper pedals. Some of those sounds will probably require multiple pedals to accomplish, though, and will inevitably end up costing the same or more, but would open up their own sets of new possibilities as separate units. And that's kind of my point. Three $200 pedals might be more worthwhile to you because they can do a lot on their own that one $500 pedal couldn't. The same is true in reverse. You might have a cheaper pedal that's just as versatile as my Tonal Recall or Spectre, if not moreso, but I'm able to utilize that versatility live while still playing guitar, and that control is worth the extra expense to me.
* Okay, I am, but I recognize its fruitlessness, and it doesn't have anything to do with MIDI.

i never said people shouldn't buy their products. i always like to say that "if someone is willing to pay $XXX for {a piece of equipment} then they deserve to." i do think they're terribly overpriced, of limited usefulness other than in experimental settings, and that i think Joel's quick drops of tiny production runs is at least seriously exploitative. if you need MIDI control, mazel tov. i can barely remember which box to stomp on.

There was a podcast called the ruffian show, not sure if it's still available online but the host interviewed a lot of pedal builders and asked them questions about their business models and their approach. If still available I would recommend listen to the CBA and Alexander pedals interviews. Very telling and fascinating.
I never owned a CBA pedal. Just can't validate the price point as I just record for me and don't play out anymore. For me I would have loved the blooper as a desktop unit as I can't wrap my head around all of those features being foot operated.
