- Listen to 'Absence of Will' and 'Time Heals Nothing' (the song not the album) by Through the Pain. And maybe 'Somewhere In My Heart' by The Hanging Garden.

Absence of Will especially is uplifting and a spiritual song. There's a drum break where most of the guitar layers drop out except one and it is the most amazing thing ever, especially on a psych substance. Weed at the very least.

But yeah Coldworld are great. As an aside, I hate black metal with bassy vocals. Sounds so corny. Banshee shrieks are my thing, prolly cos I came from Skramz and Emotive Hardcore and there's crossover especially with DBSM.

Oof. I actually saw Deafheaven at some point, and the whole band just looked bored the whole show, except the singer who kept jumping around pointing his fingers at his own head like they were a gun. It was single-handedly the most embarassing performance I've ever witnessed. I've never heard them recorded, but I remember being surprised to hear people calling them "black metal". I would've said embarassing nu-metal revival, based on the show.

They are post-skramz alt rock with vocals that has black metal / skramz hybrid.

Anyway, the point is, so many fucking dorks on this site were making fun of their combo of genres and their dress sense. How fucking sad and pathetic. Like dressing like a weirdo satanist goth isn't even more embarrassing and sad than dressing like a normal person. Falling for a bunch of dorks elitist nerds who are like "iz not real black metal duuuuuuh". Fucking nerds.

Atleast thegearpage isn't full of fucking dorks like ILF.

I don't give a shit about their fashion sense. I just said they were boring live. It was pretty clear that even they thought so. I'm not gonna lie, I was turned off by the singer doing pistol fingers at his head every 30 seconds too, but otherwise my opinion of them is mostly just "meh". I don't have any specific dislike for them. I also don't have any specific dislike for you, for the record, despite your defensiveness. You came out of the gates swinging pretty pretentiously, and you're getting ribbed for it, but you seem like an okay dude who just hasn't worked out the tone here yet.

In other news, were you not expecting a forum about music gear to be full of dorks? Who the fuck else would populate this corner of the internet?

I’m not afraid of the gear I have. I just decided to play my instrument first and then add effects as I write music. I’ve found that pedals actually severely limit me creativity (which is weird a shit). I’ve ran then in all manners of ways too. Done it, been there. Love the pedals I have but I no longer rely on them to make any real music that I would write.

However to each their own. What works is what works! So work it!

I have been playing psychedelic/trippy/strange music for a very long time and the ONE important thing is you are suppose to make the listener enter another state without the extra push...

I agree even though I don't like Skramz and came to it through grind and doom... but I am not a big BM nerd.. my favorite BM "bands" are Aghast and Moëvöt so....
