newfound love for my ab-synth and a question for tom

Post by htsamurai »

so for a while now I've had my ABS just sitting there, I'll plug it in once in a while and never really loved it like I used to.
so today before work (I should be leaving instead of writing this) I played with it for a good 20mins, trying to remember exactly what the knobs do and why theres 3 foot switches and everything.
I love it again, I just have to spend more time with it to find settings I can really genuinely dig on a permanent basis, and not "oh this is cool! ..... what do I do now? :idk: "

my question is, is it possible to send it to Tommy to rehouse it?
it's tiny, I'd like a bigger enclosure with the jacks and power supply at the bottom if possible :/

well, i am not tom but i would play him on tv...

sammy, when i pried the blurzyhugger (groundswell > arc flash oscillator combo) from blurillaz i sent it back to tom for a clear coat to prevent the chips in the finish from getting worse and a few mods. he added three toggles and turned a toggle into a knob so i could have oscillation on the groundswell and a diode clipper for the arc flash becasue tom is the greatest!

tom had to completely dis-assemble the blurzyhugger to drill the new holes and do the clear coat. essentially a re-housing but we used the original house!!! ;)

tom did not have to move anything else around other than the mode toggle for the arc flash. the hole that it was in turned into the osc knob for the groundswell and he added a hole for the mode toggle next to the clip toggle he added. what you are looking to do could lead to rewiring pots and jacks and power supplies and such but should be possible.

if you have not sent him an email yet do it man! you might also want to include a gut shot! :poke:

Definitely! I've actually got a spare larger enclosure right here. :)

We can do similar or new graphics that look even color (and more durable), add labels for the controls, whatever else. Rehousing in a larger box would mean a complete rewiring...I'd have to charge parts and shipping, but would keep it as low cost as possible.
