Lets be honest, Red Panda & Hologram are THOSE DUDES!
Forget about every other pedal company. Chase Bliss? Horse shit. Meris? Hi-fi and experimental and versatile but just doesn't have the X FACTOR! Montreal Assembly is that weirdo chronic fatigue artist who can barely finish anything but just about summons enough energy to be able to complete one masterpiece but it in itself looks unassuming. Strymon? They are for the studio nerds, THEY AIN'T ABOUT THESE STREETS! Eventide? The names bigger than their substance. Altho, the pitchfactor and space still classics, and waaaaaay before any of these newer companies. OG's. But they can't justifying those price points at this stage. Come on now, its beyond premium. Keeley and Seymour Duncan ain't about these streets either.
Then theres the novelty pedal companies like Earthquaker. Great singular effects but specifically stripped and made simple. Walrus audio have never actually made anything amazing. Lets be honest. Super average. Definition of novelty but in a cool way is Rainger FX. Most of them fall into novelty.
Then theres those weirdo european / japanese companies. These guys actually bring some things that havent been here before. But these are missing the... comprehensive touch. The taming of the creative mind, the discipline.
Then theres the fuzz dorks. Eeew gross. Just give me a RAT, a DOD Punkifier, a Muff, a Tone Bender, a Supefuzz, Shin EY AND GO AWAY! Tbf tho I get quite dorky for fuzzes. Cos the other pedals after some time you're like eeer this is not needed, but you can never forget a dirt cirtcuit that you liked once, YOU'LL ALWAYS LIKE IT BABY!
BOSS and DOD / Digitech the OG's! Will always be in my heart. TC Electronic are just there for the money. And they are making BANK! They do once in a blue moon come out with a interesting pedal like the Quintessence.
But really, Red Panda and Hologram are THOSE DUDES! These are different cats.
EDIT: Special mention to Electronic Audio Experiments for analogue effects. Really high quality, especially their preamps.
EDIT 2: And I forgot Line 6, other OG's along with DOD / DIgiTech for the american side of things. Boss held the streets in the UK and Japan.

Hologram's the kind of dudes that take a V1 pedal and release the V2 and V3 as brand new pedals.

I'm playing devil's advocate. I think their ambient machines are rad, but I do feel like the dream sequencer and infinite jets are just V1 and V2 of the microcosm. I'm glad they made a better version (with top jacks!), but I really hope they make something completely different next time.

A bit unfair take that imo. So similar ways were used to make new modes and they put them in a new pedal. Other companies have done far more egregious things. And these pedals are insane. I got the Dream Sequence when it came out and I agree I would get the microcosm now instead but I ain't lamenting it. Dream Sequence still an amazing pedal.UglyCasanova wrote:I'm playing devil's advocate. They haven't released a pedal in a long time. Buts its like, what else is there for them to do? They came, they saw, they conquered. They SONNED the entire pedal industry and bounced. Respect.kaboodle wrote:^ this

Show me a pedal company that has 3 better pedals than the Tensor, Particle 2 and Context 2. You can't. You just can't.
