Sorry dudes! I like Muff again
Couldn't find the last muff thread but i got a rangemaster type jawn so I tried it into my ruski reissue like the earthless guy does (maybe it's a triangle? some TYM thing. i only have hte russian, its ok its home cooking, as long as you like it) good shit. Surprisingly ampy and its still bottomy and it is just right amount of scooped. Finally the tone knob feels like it has range. Good combo, surprised it isn't one of those abused things.
Tried some other pedals too with the tb: hotcake was cool, od-3 was awful, sd-2 green mode was really nice, oh see demon was nice too, power booster: i need a bigger amp
But yeah the big muff was the best

Re: Sorry dudes! I like Muff again
My current muff of choice is a cheap ehx Ic muff reissue. In my experience, muffs can suck and dissapear in a mix, or they make you sound like gilmour, or give get a huge doom thing going, or they'll get you in pumpkins or dinosaur jr territory...
I know it's a lame tgp kinda thing to say...but it's all in how you use it. Which amp, other dirt, how loud, what kind of music, etc...
So yeah, for me, with my current rig, no concerns of cutting through a live mix,....I'm more than happy with the ic muff with a slightly gainy amp or an ovedrive in front of it.
At this point I honestly can't imagine spending ever $200 on a muff clone with a couple extra controls.

like i just wish i had a muff i liked ALOT without the extra controls but I find sometimes they get annoying to use with other pedals. Too much contrast you know. Like a switch and a knob maybe extra id be totes ok with

Yeah, and going be my experience with the Super Russian I'd take a chance with them on something like that as that pedal really impresses me, I like it better than the 2 black box sovtek/russian muffs I haveqersty wrote:Germanium russian sounds cool. Funny you mension that. I think I've found my muff, and I have minimalistic tendencies and annoyance with poinless controls...So since I always have the tone control switched off, my dream specs for a muff woukd be IC Muff with just vol and sustain controls. I'd be silly for me to rehouse an already small pedal just to ditch the tone control.qersty wrote:like i just wish i had a muff i liked ALOT without the extra controls but I find sometimes they get annoying to use with other pedals. But yeah, if anyone out there knows of an opamp muff like that, preferably with top jacks and cool graphics...hook me up

Re: Sorry dudes! I like Muff again
I have a pretty nice IC Muff made by Madebymike with tone control on a footswitch (then i added a clean blend in a second moment) and it's in a BB enclosure, but the FS was a custom addition and I'm pretty sure his standard version is in a small enclosure with top jacks. You can also ask him for custom graphics, maybe hit him up to see if you can have it also without tone control.frigid midget wrote:Funny you mension that. I use it 90% of the time with the tone control off, I set the tone to the most hipass and switch it on only when I want to goo full high-end noise assault.
That being said, I also have a late 90ies standard muff and I love it for FAAAT TOANZ
Actually I love muffs in general.

It doesn't get chaotic enough for me. I haven't played one that I found interesting tonally.

Re: Sorry dudes! I like Muff again
This is what I always go back to. I have an old IC that’s perpetually my favourite. I sold my Musket for the exact same reason, too many controls that I didn’t use. I bought an Eye See Pi used kind of randomly for really cheap - at the time I was playing in a band and hoped to replace the original for shows etc, now I just mess around with them and they’re both great. I had the W&C Tall Font Russian which I wish I had not flipped but now I kind of want a real Russian muff as opposed to a clone. Black or green.... when the time comes I’ll know what will be “the one” when it pops up used....frigid midget wrote:Funny you mension that. I’m looking at something like the Wren and Cuff Garbage Face and like whoa, no no no (although I hope it makes someone happy just won’t be me)
