Re: EQD x DBA collab
I don't usually jump on this kind of limited edition thing but the announcement happened to come just as I discovered an extra couple hundred (and was high). The DBA side is what sold me. It comes tomorrow and I'm pretty stoked, though I suspect it won't be a permanent addition.

Re: EQD x DBA collab
I got mine over the weekend and I really like the DBA side. I have it paired up with my OT and its really cool with drums and one shot trigs and its nasty! The EQD side isn't anything to write home about IMO but the DBA side more than makes up for what the EQD is lacking. I haven't really ever messed with any DBA pedals before this one for some reason but now I feel like I need to change that.

Re: EQD x DBA collab
I also like the DBA side. I want to try it on vocals because I think that could get cool. The EQD side can do a neat pad type sound with the settings turned up but with the filter low the gate just seems to kill the signal so that part seems kinda silly to me.
I think my favorite part about it is the silver finish, it looks so cool.
The pedal has already vacated the flavor of the month spot on my board but I'm sure I'll break it out periodically for the DBA mode.

I feel along the same lines and am going to be selling mine. Fine pedal, I actually like both sides but you get two sounds with not a whole lot of variety.

Last night I made a little demo of my acoustic run through the DBA side, if anyone's interested...

Seems like a simple filtered delay, probably it sounds good, but i don't see anything hugely special in it (not that your demo was not good, it was! i'm just pointing out how i feel about the pedal)Errant Tiger wrote:Last night I made a little demo of my acoustic run through the DBA side, if anyone's interested...

Yeah, that's pretty accurate. It's limitations are interesting, but I don't think I couldn't reproduce it - or something equally interesting - with other pedals.Dowi wrote:Seems like a simple filtered delay, probably it sounds good, but i don't see anything hugely special in it (not that your demo was not good, it was! i'm just pointing out how i feel about the pedal)Errant Tiger wrote:Last night I made a little demo of my acoustic run through the DBA side, if anyone's interested...

Re: EQD x DBA collab
random thoughts after one week....
1. I like pedals that only have a couple of unique tones that are easy to dial in. This is one of those pedals.
2. The EQD side sounds like what movies use when they call for "alien spaceship noise"
3. The DBA side sounds like ice crystals. Beautiful.
4. The filter is REALLY strong. Anything below 9 o'clock is basically unusable. I have two major problems with this pedal, and one of them is that there isn't an expression pedal input. That's a no brainer on this thing, especially the EQD side.
5. The other issue? It's full wet. The filter affects your dry tone. Most delays have a blend knob and that would've made a huge difference. I put Time Shadows in the loop of my Rubberneck but it lost too much mojo.
6. The flexi-switch is a huge plus. Momentary switching is a good fit.
7. Was it worth it? Hard to say. I don't think I would have purchased it if it wasn't a "OMG limited edition buy now or you'll regret it forever" situation. Probably would have GASSED over it for a while and maybe pulled the trigger eventually. A blend knob and EXP input would have made it a definite yes.

Agreed! An exp input and a blend knob would be great! I also wonder how it would sound with both sides in parallel or something along those lines. I imagine that would probably mean a pretty big hardware change though.

It's pretty easy to dial a mbv @reverseintofuzz tone with this. Really digging those sounds.

Re: EQD x DBA collab
I got one. It's my fave EQD pedal so far. I'm suprised by how many different sounds (on both sides) they got into it and how cool they are. However, there's something about EQD that don't gel with me. Something about them sounding...thin? (digital?) I don't know if that's the right word but it's as close as I can get. Maybe it's just a taste thing. Either way, it does sound good though and is fun to tweak so will try and combine it with other pedals to see what different results I can get. Anyone more into EQD than me should deffo try one. I say EQD here, mainly cause of the format, haha, but speaking of the whole pedal. Does anyone else find that it would have been nice to have more knobs/controls on it? Of course that would mean it'd be bigger etc but it just feels like that it'd make it even better? Or am I just lazy? Do people prefair the more "mystery" approach to stuff?
Tl dr;
Imo it's a cool pedal and does many sounds, or at least ideas of sounds I like. Could be a good space saver but maybe wouldn't sound as good as other combos of pedals doing the same?

Yes to all this! Would improve it A LOT!Hobbes96 wrote:I wonder how hard an expression input mod would be. I can't imagine it would be super difficultcantremember wrote:Agreed!
