Good until sunday. Hurry up and buy :thumb:

Clarification--yes the code FUZZY11 is good through sunday at midnight. But...only on in-stock fuzz boxes and I don't think the merkin will be in until next tuesday or so. Not to despair....lots of other good stuff is in stock and we may rerun this in a week or 2 when we have plenty of merkins.

I love that name.

Hey Gunner--Clarification on the clarification. Merkin's came in on Saturday so I've adjusted inventory on our website. They are now included in the sale until Sunday at midnite. Have fun.

AAAAAAHHHH I can't sleep and I saw some announcement for the Merkin on another website. Then I watched the video. Then I came here and saw the 11% off thing. I hadn't heard of this pedal 15 minutes ago and now I own one. WHAT A BUTTHOLE.

Anyway... from the sounds of this video, it's right up my acetube... I spend most of my time (while I'm just fucking around) turning down the tone on my neck pickup to 0 and doing like melty 60s kind of fuzz. NO REVERB THOUGH.

I was sold on the "2000 lb. Bee" clip. SUCKAAAAAA!!! I need to fucking go to bed.

That video has to be the coolest pedal demo video ever, it's awesome! The fuzz sounds really great too, really nails those cool tones.

How has this thread gone two pages without a picture of a pubic wig?

I'd buy one just for the name...

I’ve had a few days to play with My Merkin and found some interesting things.

First using an Energizer alkaline battery into a B-15 I didn’t like any of the settings I tried with either a bass or P-90 guitar.
There were tons of harmonic overtones, lots of noise and accentuated top.

The texture is interesting, all the way counter clock wise it is raspier with more high end than at 9:00 o’clock where it smoothes out and rolls off the top end a bit. Farther clock wise seems to bring out more bass response as well as getting dirtier.

More bass comes through as you turn the volume up as well.

I then plugged into a Fender ok I did get decent sounds, closer to the video demo.
Turning the volume up and the guitars volume down got me even closer.

For I also tried an old Echo with low out put staple pickups, now I was into ‘60s territory.

Today, not being able to find a carbon battery I tried both a Duracell and CVS heavy duty battery. Still using the 4x10 fender and the P-90s I now got amazing tones out of it.

I certain settings the grit and harmonic over tones were present but much more musical.
I could get some nice approximations of Tone Bender and Mosrite Fuzzrite fuzz sounds.
Other than a Foxx fuzz wah, I don’t have any originals to AB with so can’t say it will do an exact Buzz around, Tone Bender, Fuzz Face, Secova etc.

It sounded so good now that I had to try bass again.

Plugged in my ’51 reissue and was in fat, fuzz heaven. One handed playing, sliding feed back, and sustain for as long as I held a note. Chords were a bit muddy but in a good way.

All in all It is amp and battery picky, but with the right combination does deliver all those great ‘60s sounds. The CVS heavy duty battery sounded the best, followed by the Duracell, when I can find a carbon or two I’ll give them a try.

I've got a Fender Tweed Blues Deluxe and a Gibson Faded Special with P-90s.

I'm not totally satisfied with my Merkin just yet. I haven't tried it with batteries, but I'm not a battery kind of guy. I'm going to try again today with the sag option on my Pedal Power 2 and see what that does.

I found the opposite so far in terms of bass (in the tone of the pedal)... when I turn up the fuzz, the bass disappears. The bridge pickup was unusable, and the neck pickup sounded like a bridge pickup.

Not a whole lot of sustain to it either.

BUT, yeah, I will try again today for a few hours. I love the sounds on the video... just found myself thinking of my Devi US while playing the Merkin.

C

*3 HOURS LATER*

Ok. Changed my mind. Ran it at the Pedal Power 2 Sag's lowest setting, which I think is 4V or something? Sounds GGGREEEEAAATTT!!! It's what I wanted when I bought the damn thing. And I love how sensitive it is to your picking dynamics, if that's the right term. You can get like a million different sounds when you mess with your tone knob and the EQ on your amp, and if you don't play the strings at full force, you can get a really neat shitty 60s fuzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

When I had it plugged in to straight 9V on the PP2, it was very very trebly and buzzy. I LIKE that, but it wasn't what I wanted out of the Merkin. After playing it on the Sag setting for a while, I plugged it back in as 9V, and yeah, it's overly aggressive. Some of the things you can do with it are cool at 9V, but like the highest setting on the gain knob... it's just mush. I guess I'll have to use batteries for this little fuzzball.

It's a keeper. :thumb:
