Since I come from the era of dinosaurs I want to be sure that .wav is optimal. Any constraints on bit depth/sample rate that should be adhered to? (I think my default settings are 24/48 in the DAW).

Yeah those settings will be fine. WAV is indeed best format for compatibility and quality.

I don't really see any problem having some samples in the pack that are lower fidelity either haha. But all modern gear will record to 24 bit WAV, with 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rate. And this will probably be the best for everyone to work with.

I was wrong about my default export settings, they are 16 bit at 88.2 kHz. If anyone runs into problems with that, let me know.

I uploaded the four sounds from that drum toy I pictured in the other thread. My naming convention starts with my ILF membership number (24781), and I avoided sticking these in drum section subdirectories because, well, they're trash. ENJOY!

Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hz3f2i6t85n4 ... H54na?dl=0

Anyone with the link can access the folder, but unfortunately not edit it. So I guess I would have to manually add people to the project once they write in the thread. However, anyone already added can add new members so I guess it wont be impossible.

There is a paper with requests. I thought those looking for a specific thing can put their request in the thread and then also in the paper so we can tick it off as it goes.

Please PM me with your email and I can add you to the folder officially :joy:
Great idea, put some folders in there so it's slightly categorized (like drum hits, quacks, explosions) and this is :thumb:
Already done and I'll add you to it as well :joy:

Just uploaded a bunch of snare samples + 1 bell and 1 (shitty) kick we recorded last night, they're totally totally un-processed so the dirty work is up to you.

I made some sub-folders and named those "acoustic" since there will probably be a lot of electronic samples. I think it's easier to divide the two categories, but another option would be to rename the samples with a more extended description (i don't like to do this).

@fck the SNARE_1/2/3 + SNARE_HEAD_1 samples are the closest i could get to what we were talking about yesterday, we didn't have much time so we just tried a couple of combinations.

Yes please (to the odd documentaries, not to the homophobia)

I'm going to dig in my sample folder to see if there's something worthy even if it's mostly animal sounds/noises.

Love that people are already adding to this! Thinking about what I could contribute, would anyone be interested in

Double bass
lap steel
weird noises (I know the answer to this already)
Random object percussion

I have a bunch of random stuff that I collected from various free archives. Stuff like the Conet Project, NASA files, and random stuff people posted over on Muffwiggler in threads for the Radio Music and Nebulae. I'll upload some stuff when I get a chance to be one the computer (probably this weekend)

Happy to know that :joy:
My friend recently bought a handful of decent mics and is attending some lessons focused on drum-recording. He has 3 or 4 really cool snares, some nice cymbals, and a couple of different kick/tom sets, so once he's done I want to record the samples of his complete drumsets and make some kits.

I've just recorded some static & noise samples too, going to cut and upload them this weekend or so.
This shared sample folder thing is making me productive, which is good., and because of this --> to eventually buy a Model:Samples or a Digitakt has become #1 thing to do at the beginning of next year if i gather enough funds.

Also i'm down to all the samples you wrote, specially double bass. random object percussion is always good too, to unleash my inner Martin Gore and go full People are People intro style. :snax:

I uploaded some ol recordings people can use as samplefodder if you want :)

I can do some cello recordings as well, or drony chords on the analog four or whatever.
