I have owned a H3000, Eclipse and Pitchfactor and did sound reinforcement for a living for 15 years or so, and I'm not afraid of screens/menus/etc.
For pedals that I may have to use live (obviously not right now), I do tend to prefer knobs and switches only. I tend to not even bother with presets, but just reach down and set things where I like.
I was actually going to buy a Boss RV6 when the Blackhole pedal came out. I liked the algo in the eclipse and I like their products generally, so I bought that instead. So far, I like it.
I'm going to snag a Context 2 once they get some more of the reported issues sorted out with further fw updates, my old one is basically always on. Also keeping eyes out for a Space now that Black Hole exists, already saw one go for $275 on TGP.

If you don't need stereo, hard to go wrong with the Atmosphere. Probably the best user interface of any digital pedal I know. And sounds great, and the LFO is awesome.
yeah, plus I'm finding I like reverb more for "lofi atmosphere" than for whatever celestial perfection a lot of other people seem to desire (present company excepted), and the Atmosphere seems to deliver on that promise...+1,000 for the possibility of modulated strangeitude. probs have to wait until a trade arises, tho bc i lack the discipline to sell-then-buy
Your new avatar has been my bypass screen of choice for a long time (that one and the pizza).
The sample rate knob will help you a lot if you're looking for lofi atmospheres. If you have any particular curiosities about LFO use or patch possibilites just ask, i can sort out a small video trying some settings. Maybe i will do it anyways. Even with standard patches like Plate (one of my favorites) it's awesome.

Which one provided reverse? And you preferred that reverse to the Empress? Because I thought the Empress reverse was pretty good and would be interested and trying other reverses.

Don't kill yerself on a vidya - I mean, I would def watch it with gratitude and interest but I've pretty much made up my mind - it's only a matter of making the gear pile is smaller first and I fund it solely from gear-based funds....
Also - the Zoom Multistomps are a solid choice for reverbs all around - they're not cork-sniffer approved, maybe, but they sound better than many options costing significantly more, they get the job done, and some of the algos, like the reverse, really shine.

If you're doing vids... can you do a typical post rock ethereal verb... except with the lowest possible fidelity?

Like, you mean total Bitcrushed reverb mess? Consider it done. The "Alias" patch is made specifically for that.
If you don't want to go into aliasing, you can have really nice low-fidelity sounds with the Filter patch and low sample rate which gets pretty post-rocky modulating the amount of frequencies filtered.

Here's a super lo-fi-phone-recording of some lo-fi settings.
I'm an awful demoer, the fact that i was recording totally blocked myself from improvising something decent, and i also don't know if i'm going too long or not. I realized that the dry volume + audible strumming of me playing right behind the camera cover most of the reverb sounds, so i don't know how helpful this can be.
See video infos for time marks of the different patches.
Signal was guitar->Atmosphere->Boss Katana slightly dirt, no other pedals involved.
Thanks for doing this! No worries about the volume levels - I can definitely tell what the pedal is doing. Also, thanks for not just swelling in sparse prettiness the entire time - really good to hear a lot of different styles. (but the swells sounded good too!)
given my predilection for the lofi, and variety, and my use of reverb more as an effect than as an always-on "sweetener" (saccharine, blecch), I really think this one is what I want...especially since I play in mono 99% of the time....

Agreed, if I have to use reverb as always on I usually dial it in from the amp. I use it a lot as an effect (often almost full wet) and before subsequential dirt/modulation, I just didn't know what you wanted to hear from a demo so I tried to do a bit of everything.
The swell reverb is one of the patches I rarely use as it requires too much patience and dilated playing to be effective, and I find the other more interesting and immediate for my playing style.
I got a Boss RV-500 recently. The range of parameters/combinations it provides is a bit daunting but it seems to cover most of the reverb types that I want. The Non Linear and Early Reflections settings are good for traditional Shoegaze sounds.
So, this being the expensive reverbs thread, did anyone preorder a CXM 1978? I almost considered returning my Zoia and preordering one but then realized importing a $900 pedal after shipping and taxes is almost a €1100 pedal and the Zoia is a lot more versatile at half the price. Maybe I could justify it if I actually did studio work but alas I don't...
