totally agree. In my experience the most fun is had with just blasting high gain stuff. I don't find the fine tuning available on fancier fuzz pedals as useful for synths - unless you're trying to go for subtle overdrive/gritty sounds. For all out fuzz avoid subtlety, buy cheap high gain stuff, have fun.

Ended up picking up a Malekko Downer for cheap from Guitar Center, so I’m going to see how the wavefolding does with the 303 clone.

Guitar center’s return policy makes it easy so if it doesn’t work out I’ll report back here so no one else wastes their time lol.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Seems like an excellent choice. Please report back when you can

Oh hell yeah! Thank you! I would love to try out another RMA pedal. The tetanus has been a staple for me for guitar for the last 3 years lol.
I just picked up a Monobius, and so far it sounds amazing on my Circuit Mono Station (aka Bass Station w/ a sequencer), even when I thought only the fuzz knob worked because I had it on a cheap daisy chain.

I also have a Fender Blender clone from Nick @ turnipfarmsfx that sounds great, if you don't mind filling up the frequency spectrum. Wolf Computer is fun, but I wouldn't run out and buy one for it. Everyone talking about cheap and high gain pedals makes me think I need to run it through my Boss ODB-3...

For PLLs, I love my PurPLL. But I mostly use it to arpeggiate or otherwise fill things out, like to repeat a short loop with its buffer set to random/dirty, or to slap a stereo chorus or delay on it and run the synth dry panned center -- for acid, I don't think it's what you're looking for, unless you want to add glitchy notes -- its straight square wave fuzz doesn't add much to the bass synth texture

Still figuring out the Downer, but so far it’s been very versatile with the 303 sound. Lots of weird acid textures.

Now I’m looking at filter pedals. Got a pigtronix resotron but it doesn’t liven my up my drums as much as I’d like. Ideally I’d get a Sherman Filterbank but they’re expensive. Anyone got any suggestions?

good to hear - I liked it - way more than I had expected to....
you want multimode?
if you're looking at lowpass, the Vongon Paragraphs is pretty ace.
WMD Protostar is also pretty top and will give you bandpass and highpass as well....

Yesterday I tried to plug the Minilogue in the DBA Apocalypse but the result was a bit underwhelming, it just worked good in one of the 5 modes. Then I plugged it in the Bitquest dirt channel and it was  I guess the gate is helping a lot to keep clarity on staccato notes.

I realize the thread says "fuzz" but these guys make their own distortions that are specifically geared toward the 303:
