I always liked that element fuzz series by Maxon, but never had the chance to try these out (especially the Ether and the Fire).
Btw I just got a
JTPR FX Add Violence: which is a very cool take on the superfuzz topic.
Of all the superfuzzes I own, this is quite on the velcroish/gated side. Controls for volume, tone (mid boost/scoop) and fuzz, and a diode switch (germanium or no diodes, for even more volume output and grind).
What it takes apart from the other SF are 2 internal trimmers: one is for clean blend and the other is for bass boost (there's a third one, which accroding Jptr site should set the octave caracter, but found out that does nothing, acts more as a kind of fuzz bias, so I left it were it was, also Chris from Jptr confirmed me that this trim does quite nothing....

).
After the first few trials and error, I found out that the Add Violence sounds best with the clean blend dialed to 1:1 balance (or just a little bit more over unity gain, to have a slightly clean boost when on), and bass boost on full blast. With this setup it has a flavor of its own that you won't find on other Superfuzz variants.
