Lo-fi compressor?
Hello guys, very enamoured of the DigDugDIY Purple Rain, but it's a little inconvenient for guitar use. Anyone aware of something similar in pedal format? I already looked at the TC Spectracomp which seems excellent in all regards but unfortunately Not Quite Weird Enuf, unless someone out there has figured a way to mess with its bit count...

I think the instant lofi junky is supposed to be a compressor.
imagine finding out your son is your daughter & she's into noise music

Re: Lo-fi compressor?
The Lo-Fi Junky is a very strong compressor that has the ability to warble, but it will not get as lo fi as the Purple Rain (and no freeze function, either).
However, I'm a little surprised no one apart from the DigDug has come up with a sample rate reducer/compressor/freeze combo platter that wasn't so tiny
Most of the cheaper bitcrushers out there only focus on bit-ness (Mooer Lo-Fi, Hotone Krush), and the higher end have lots of other features (Ottobit has a Hold, Sequencer, but still no comp?).
Dr. Scientist Bitquest does alot for the money, has a clean/dirty option, and can get closer to a SNES holocaust than any of the above.
Option ???: Rehouse the lil' bugger in a giganto enclosure, add a footswitch etc.

Thanks, guys, esp. Couplonapkins. I'm surprised too. Rehousing wouldn't be my first choice because of that freeze button being mounted to the board. But, yeah, agreed.

Fairfield Circuitry Accountant? Idk what you mean by lofi, but that has some character, for sure.
Edit: oh, you want a compressor/bitcrusher/SRR combo. That's quite niche. Can't help there.
Rehouse is probably the way to go.

Re Arion: Ahh, but is it *the right kind of shit*?
Since this morning I've turned up the fabulously rare Purple Rain Supreme [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bmyRrAPILc] which is made by DigDugDIY in a proper housing with a few more options than the standard version and is yowzah stereo.
Issues are that 1. it's scarce 2. I've realized from listening to it that the most interesting sounds happen in response to tabletop-style manipulation which I can't do unless I grow an extra appendage. This would be true of the standard version, too, now that I come to think of it.
H'm.

Re: Lo-fi compressor?
PS A couple of months ago I realized that the Sonuus Voluum could be used to vary compression in response to pedal input, and i wrote to Sonuus to ask if the software could be tweaked to do BRR. I'll take their non-reply as a no.

Re: Lo-fi compressor?
Tech 21 Comptortion, which is no longer made, sounded pretty lo fi to me when I had one. I think I paid $40 for it, not sure what they go for now.
When I first got it, I was blown away by how bad it sounded, just my opinion, of course.
Every couple of months, I'd plug it it in, play for a couple minutes, laugh, and throw it back on the shelf.
