Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
The manual is online at last. It all looks good to me (but I don't need stereo input). The Octave mode on the Canyon has become Pitch on the Grand Canyon, which I hadn't noticed at first--it can do single-shift TimeBender-style or spiraling CT5-style. All parameters controllable by expression or CV. All delay modes can be used in conjunction with the looper.

Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
I've read the manual and it's not my piece of cake: only mono input (no way to have a stereo in with a TRS cable, like I was hoping) and the looper can do only Rec > Play > Overdub, REc to Overdub is not possible.

So has anyone got one yet? There is a LOT of pedal going on there for $250.

Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
Finally grabbed one of these recently at a slight discount from a local store via Reverb. So far, the modes that seem most impressive are mod, DMM, reverb, reverse, and shimmer. The looper feature is fairly intuitive when in looper mode, but kind of clunky when using random delay modes to loop. Definitely need to RTFM to better understand this pedal and will likely have more to report.

Tell me about that reverse. Is it triggered by playing dynamics?

Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
I had to tinker a bit more to be certain and determined there is adjustable dynamic response when using reverse mode. There always seems to be backward echo present regardless of playing dynamics, but reverse envelope intensity is reliant upon the pedal's input level.

Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
My experience of the Grand Canyon would suggest that there hasn't been much of an improvement. I bought one a few months ago and every mode introduced a very noticeable hiss to the signal. Seems like that problem isn't isolated to my unit so I just got a refund.Bassist_Diver wrote:

Yeah, the effects were great and I liked the new smallish enclosure but the hiss was very audible. Maybe there's just a bad batch or something - it doesn't seem as if the original Canyon has the same problem.coldbrightsunlight wrote:That sucks

EHX digital stuff is super fussy about power supply, could be that?

I don't think so, I tried the power supply that was supplied with it and that didn't make any differenceScruffie wrote:EHX digital stuff is super fussy about power supply, could be that?
I've seen someone say that they were able to eliminate the hiss by using an EQ after the Grand Canyon so that might be an option.

Re: New EHX: Grand Canyon
So I've had one for 18 months or so. Sometimes I can get it to do cool stuff. Other times not so much. Stereo out is really cool.
Otherwise sonically its a bit flat (like these dsp pedals often are).
I use the expression pedal and 3 button thingie https://www.ehx.com/products/triple-foot-controller. One of the buttons duplicates tempo, which is on the the pedal too. Which is a wasted oppourtunity.
Any combination of parimeters can be set to be controlled by the expression pedal, which is way cool. However sweeping parimeters with the expression pedal doesn't result in a particualrly smooth transition between sounds.
It's all pretty unintuitive. Loading a preset you have no idea where the knobs are at. Some markings around the mini knobs would have been helpful too, particually when you're fumbling around for a particular interval in the pitch mode.
IDK, it comes close but I don't love it. Still, the function to bucks ratio is good so I shouldn't complain.
I'll probably just flip it eventually.

You've convinced to ignore it for 3-5 more years.
...Only for me to come back to it at that time, and be all, "what the hell, this is cool."
