Building a mini-board, looking for multi-mod

Yeah, the Mooer and Valeton pedals are basically 1:1 the same. It's more or less just a question of availability. Here the Mooers are offered far more often than the Valeton pedals, I think it's different on your side of the pond?

I think Valeton might be out of business. Just saw a “60 cycle hum” channel afford-a-board video from June that suggested they were selling off remaining stock. Is there a
Mooer exact clone of the Valeton Coral Mod?

I’m not a big chorus person, but the Coral Mod has a Jazz Chorus amp inspired chorus that I like. And the tremolo and slap back echo aren’t bad. Not into the flanger but I’ve got much nicer DSP flanger in a much more expensive pedal now.

The Mooer ModFactory MK2 is the Coral Mod I think...

Resurrecting my thread to say that I got a Mod11 and almost instantly hated it. Fantastic capabilities, awful (for me) sounds. So the board currently looks like this:



and it's back to the drawing board. Here's what I've learned:

1. I really like analog modulation
2. I'm partial to 2-4 stage phasers

So far I can see three options:

1. Southampton Utility Knife (6 stage phaser, and more than I want to spend, but sounds SO good - and top jacks!);
2. Build a slightly bigger miniboard, which would probably take me from the current 7 pedals to 11 or 12 (I've been toying with re-adding my Tera Echo and a muff at the end of the chain as well), and probably get a Lillian and use my Starlight for flange (or maybe pick up a BF-2); which I suspect ultimately will end up leading to
3. Just go back to the big board. Which I'm not ready to do just yet.

Sigh... however, this is the perfect way to keep me distracted during my divorce, so bring it on!

Just a thought - if you swapped the patch cables on the side jack peds for EBS flat cables, you might fit an extra mini ped on there (or a bigger multi-mod box).

Those Ibanez minis are cheap and analog - chorus, trem, flanger.. no phaser though.

I still think the Alexander Wavelength is a good choice but it is digital (although so is the Utility Knife).

The Wavelength looks and sounds cool, but just... something. Too much, maybe? I like the simplicity of the Utility Knife, though I hadn’t realized it’s also digital. I guess I should’ve figured that out.

And I hadn’t thought about those tiny Ibanez! In general I prefer non-mini pedals, but this is worth a listen... thank you!

What modulations do you NEED? And how important is their sonic quality?
I ask because even though my boards have always been physically larger than most over the years I never had more than 13 actual pedals, but, for me the mooger phase, envelope filter and freqbox [plus expressions] were the only things that worked 100% for fill out the band sound correctly for the songs and sound we had [usually I'd squawked at that that I was getting lost in the mix or sounded thin..] I tried to replace them tons of times but everything was a letdown.. and those 3 pedals are larger than your whole board Now that could just be that getting good psychedelic/prog/new-wave bass sounds in a trio is harder than guitar..

Keep the Phase 95, add a Mooer E-Lady for flange and chorus-sounding flange? (Non-Deluxe Electric Mistress clone, and that was Andy Summers’ early Police chorus sound.) That’s the best idea I have for covering analog phase and flange in a very small space.

I really liked that video and am going to be digging into his stuff more! Thanks! That's the whole point of this miniboard experiment, really: figuring out what's essential and getting back some playing skills I've let go as I've gotten absorbed into a massive swirl of effects.

As to what modulation I need? Phase and flanger. Chorus would be nice but not essential, particularly because I could probably flange one up. I don't need a particularly wacky flanger either - my main board has a Starlight on it, which is great, but for this board I really only need a simple one. I wish the MXR Micro Flanger was actually micro (like Phae 95) sized and not just normal sized.

I don't love the Mooer stuff, but I am thinking about that Ibanez mini OR the Mr. Black Mini Flanger to pair with the 95.

What would be awesome would be to get someone to rehouse the 95 and, say, an MXR Micro Flanger into one box. HMM...
