Hope everyone is doing well. I wanna get started designing and testing out DSP stuff for the Eurorack platform and was wondering if anyone have any recommendations for the following items:
* Small portable rack/cabinet for 8-16 medium sized modules
* Power supply
* VCA
* VCO
* VCF
* Sequencer
* cables + cable rack
I'm not looking for anything overly fancy/complex as these will mostly be used for testing/experimenting at my workshop. I'm handy with a soldering iron if anyone knows of some sites that sell DIY kits of decent quality.
Yeah I have a million suggestion for everything here but perhaps going mostly Doepfer for anything you're not building yourself is a good way to start?
Basically want to reiterate everything vidret said.
If you're also interested in really cheap versions of "standard modules" that are decently executed (i.e. "I just need a simple and cheap VCA/Quantiser/clock divider/etc with no funny business"), Ladik probably make it.

Maybe the simplest would be to start with a semi-modular thing and then just try interfacing with that. I see that is not what you're asking for but that has always been the way I would approach it (the million times I have considered eurorack, that is)

Will pick up a RackBrute 3U + cables and stuff. Drawing up my own modules for interfacing with guitar/piezos, an attenuverter a headphone output so I guess I am starting out semi-modular. Will mostly be looking at audio signal processing (guitar pedal mindset..) for now so I guess it makes sense not over-complicating things too early. Still need some fun CV source though...
For fun CV, maths/batumi/wogglebug/PNW/ochd/marbles are good (among many others of course) - depends what flavour of fun you want and how much room you want it to take up:)

For getting in and out all you need is to attenuevert the outputted signal (so any VCA basically, just turn it down) and then amp it up on the way back in. You know this already ofc, but there are specific modules for this sort of thing (xaoc sewastapol (spelling?)), but imo all you need is a strong enough amp to get guitar signals up to euro lvl. bringing it down to go out again is easy.
Definitely. My "Guitar-to-Euro" module is just a 20x amplifier and the headphone module is basically just a pair of buffers. Just figured this would be cheaper to make those utility tools myself.
