I also don't like to use these toppers. I tried few once (barefoot and chinese aluminium cheap ones), but I like a lot better the bare footswitches as they are.
I felt the switches w/ toppers after a while worn faster (mechanic fritcion), and were no more as smooth as they used to.
It just makes you say, maybe single pickup guitar > cable > amp is the shit....

I'm not going to argue that the footswitch buttons are stupid. I will however argue that they help a lot in a live situation. With that tall one I don't have to worry about bumping any knobs or switches - I can throw my foot in the general direction and it'll all turn out ok. Which in turn increases my ability to headbang and flail about on stage. So I'm not a fan of the buttons, but I'm a fan of flailing. Which makes it a no brainer for me.
Pedal risers are also good for getting the switch height up and they don't make you look like a wanker, but they don't solve the accidentally-mash-dpdts-and-knobs problem.
Maybe if you didn't play "technical" music with "skill" and "timing" and "musicianship" you could look cool instead of using nerd buttons
I got nothing.

That’s quarter-assed at best.

Nawwww what you need it a bigger board so you can get multiple Flex Reaction Compound 88s
But I feel you, I've spent years playing complicated stuff with a big board and with big feet... But I always made risers for my boards..
Right now I'm in hell because I'm still trying to work out my new board for future stuff and I using a mother fucking old bent pedal train [we hates PTs] with missing feet until I get the setup and function stuff down then I'll build a board around the setup one way or another..
