Ok so Billy and the gang swung by one of my favorite NYC venues this week and I didn't go because I figured it would crush everything I remember about the band.
It turns out it was a fucking awesome show. Some of the new stuff sounds suprisingly awesome, especially "freak", a track I loathed when it was released. Billy was pretty nice (as in not a total dick) and seemed to enjoy playing for the crowd.
Definitely better than the recordings. (I hated the recordings too). I don't know why the crowd was standing so still during 'as rome burns.' That was a pretty rockin' song.

"As Rome Burns" from what I have heard of the current tour, sounds so much better than it did in 2008. This new line-up is showing promise. Mike Byrne even does a decent job of "United States"...
I'm hoping Billy has, or is about to record some of the Backwards Clock Society songs for release soon. The subtitle of Volume 2 of Teargarden is "The Solstice Bare", a line from "Tom Tom" so here's hoping.
I think Freak is my favourite TBK song so far.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.
