gear down under

Post by Errant Tiger »

I've got a pal in Sydney who is starting to get interested in gear. Nothing too crazy, probably, but I'm wondering if anyone has good sources for pedals in that area. Or if anyone here wants to sell my pal any quality gear...

Sydney unfortunately has some of the worst music stores in the country despite being the biggest city... Most of the places where you can walk in and demo gear only seem to stock one or two interesting brands, and prices are usually ridiculous.

As far as pedal makers go, Lastgasp Art Laboratories is awesome and based in Sydney. http://www.lalweb.com/store-e.html

If they're cool with ordering online, the following interstate places stock a lot of ILF-approved brands and are great to deal with:
https://www.deluxeguitars.com.au/
https://www.pedalempire.com.au/
https://signalchain.com.au/

Reverb took a while to catch on but it's generally better than eBay and Gumtree for used gear nowadays, so it's worth keeping an eye out there...

yeah there's very little in terms of shops. global vintage has some cool stuff? but have had kind of shitty experiences there, the people are just kind of rude and condescending.

Musical Sellhole is a facebook group that has cool shit in it sometimes. gumtree is 99% shit but occasionally you'll get a good deal. reverb has some good stuff on it! but like bv said, a bit slow. Found Sound is in Melbourne but often has cool shit and I have purchased from them before, as well as Deluxe Guitars and Pedal Empire I think.

Found Sound in Melbourne has great stuff. It isn’t in Sydney but worth the trip. https://foundsound.com.au/
