Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
Assuming this old thread is correct it does seem to be 3x J201s (or something) and 5x 2n2222s. I wonder if anyone has one of these through hole component versions...

I've got all the parts placed and a fair amount of routing done. Once I finish I'll clean it up so it'll be easier to read. The 2n2222 sot23 package pinout seems to make sense thus far.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
Almost done however my motherboard died yesterday. I am ordering parts to rebuild and will get the stuff off my HD so I can keep working from my old laptop. lol

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
I'm waiting for this capacitor tweazer thing to get here from china. another week or two maybe. small bear was opened for one day and I failed to get my order in for potentiometers. I think I have them all in stock anyway but still. mammoth is closed. pedal parts plus only sells boxes now!? I will be looking at tayda and antique electronic supply. I also reopened my online store and developed some new products while still taking summer classes.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
Not on my end. I just got my computer up and going today so this week I should be able to get the tracing done and a cleaned up schematic drawn. Then just waiting on cap values and to review it over.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
yeah I am waiting on a package from china so I can get the cap values. no point in messing with the transistors till I sit down to do the cap values.
that means it should have been delivered to my house on june 4 more less.Arrived at destination country

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
Schematic is done, possibly correct. We are looking it over a bit and waiting on stuff to sort out cap values + le transistors.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
the schematic looks good but it is not ready to be released with so much missing details such as cap values and transistor type. imJonWain did an excellent job bringing the schematic to almost %100 completion even with the missing information. I could build it right now with a good guess for the cap values and transistors but I would rather wait to measure them correctly and then build a proper clone to replace the one we cut up. long story short story, this pedal is two pedals in parallel. they are both dirty. they mix together at the end. all of then have been done before. its like 4 different pedals in one. that explains why 8 gain stages. totally normal. for example, even though this is not a muff, if you take two muffs in parallel you have 8 transistors. think about it.

Can you tell what the two circuits are based on?

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
EYG may know of particular pedals or circuits that it's similar to but it's nothing crazy. Stacked gain stages w/ different filtering on each.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
I think it is too different to say that it is a fuzz face or an Electra or an LPB-1. It is all of them and none of them. It is so highly modified at this point, the only similarity is that it has transistors and FET. To say that Q2 on the 5 stage side is similar to Q2 in a fuzz face but if Q1 is not the same as a fuzz face then it is just another frequency dependant gain stage. Basic building blocks of transistors. Q5 has a single diode in series to a cap for a negative feedback path. Normally this would improve stability and linearity regardless of temperature or part variation. This is not a resistor. This diode + cap gives you tons of frequency dependant gain and phase dependant non-linearity. Because it is negative feedback this is the opposite of the other frequency dependant amplifier.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
looks like on semiconductor D1P could be anything in sot23. here is a j201 with G2P! big dot little dot mold release. the on semiconductor datasheets all show 1P for both BJT and JFET which is incomplete. M is not written on the package I have here.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
Yeah, I figured the markings wouldn't help. I stuck with the 2n2222 due to photos of the early proto board w/ through hole components using metal can transistors and the 2n2222 being the most common one. Does anyone on here know the person who made them? Weren't they on here at one point?

I don’t think Dana has posted here.
Dana did a lot of work for Devi, and Devi used a lot of 2n2222s so based on that really tenuous link I’d say it’s not impossible?
