like psyre, the big concern here is the oxidation on the front panel. sometimes it's just on the surface of the chassis, and you can clean it off without too much trouble. but if some liquid spilled and got inside (maybe through the input jacks) then things could be a lot worse. but still salvageable if it hasn't died yet. also, take care opening it up – touching the circuitry in a tube amp can kill you if you don't' discharge the capacitors properly. so read up on amp safety first, and if you need to poke around for some reason make sure to use a chopstick or something else wooden.

Re: What did I get myself into (at the pawnshop)????
So I finally am getting around to opening the back of the cab. I don’t know anything about what I’m looking at but it doesn’t look too crazy? You think? I don’t think anything spilled on top. I’m thinking about getting a swamp thang put in there. Anyone have any other speaker recommendations? I wish I knew about what I’m looking at..... I went to culinary school and before the COVID-19 bullshit I was Sous Chef at a pretty swank restaurant. That was before the quarantine. Now that everything is shot to hell I want to change my profession... I’m worried that shit is going to be far from the norm. The quarantine has made me think a lot. I always wanted to make a living doing something in the music industry. Maybe now is my chance. I would love to get into amp repair and restoration. Like bringing life to something that was forgotten or mishandled. Has anyone out there felt like me and actually did something about it? Is there a school anyone would recommend? I might be overthinking shit. But just looking at this amp makes me want to learn about what I’m looking at...
Here are them guts though like I promised!

Last one. Sorry if I take up a lot of room with my gut shots.

Psyre wrote:It's hard to tell without gut shots, but nothing I see is THAT bad, but I do wonder under what circumstances an amp like this can be in such bad shape. Do you live by the ocean? The only real concern is if that oxidation has made it inside, but it played...and at the price of a pawn shop SS Peavey.
HRD was my first tube amp and I would have been just as well off kepijg it as upgrading to the '68 Bassman, '68 Super was a definite step up, but if I did it all over I'd prb still have the HRD, as I ended up settling on a Peavey Studio Chorus 210.
This guy on marketplace is selling a 69 or 70 Super Bassman for like $550. He lives like 4 hours away but I have nothing better to do than take a road trip. I might be able to get it down to $500. I’ve seen the ones that are more valuable are like the earlier ones. I think because they are 300 watts. I think this one is 200 watts... hmmm I guess I answered my own question!
