Rat was my first pedal and I love it dearly despite not currently having one.

For high gain or bass purposes I prefer LED clipping but I like normal silicon diodes for lower gain/brighter tones.

to my own astonishment:
possibly flangers :wha?:

there was a time when my first pedals
black russian muff & electric mistress RI
were my favorite sound in the world

alas ever since I sold everything to travel,
I never got really happy with another flanger again

not even when I spent too much money on a used electric mistress RI recently :idk:
I did play some nice fuzzes though

I hate moodswings are awesome! Oh, and I usually post when I'm way too tired...

Glitch pedals are ones that I really wish I enjoyed. They make fun sounds, but I can never make them do anything that could be turned into a song. Honorable mentions: Charlie Foxtrot and CT5

I know, right?
but which one really?

I still like to put some flange on drums in Ableton Live,
but on guitar.... maybe I'm turning into a phaser guy and should just get another small stone? :idk:

or I could stick to the accoustic & practice fingerpicking, that's never a bad thing & doesn't cost a dime :!!!:

IDK maybe you're just not a flanger person. I got a BF-2 recently and it is probably perfect? I've had flangers before but I think I got on with them a bit less well than this one.

Small stones are cool though! Used to love my old one till I got a bit annoyed at the volume drop.

^^ I really like my Dreadbox Komorebi and also wish I'd never sold my Subdecay Quantum Starlight flanger (V1).

The one I'm still battling with (I've tried selling it, but no-one has ever wanted to buy it from me) is the Alexander Colour Theory.

I've managed to get one or two sounds from it that I like, but clearly there must be lots more in there - I just haven't been able to find them.

This made me laugh. I can identify with this sentiment both in context and out.

For me the problem is seldom the gear...it's me. Shaking off ingrained behavior in
a way that makes sense and isn't annoying or obligatory in a "just cuz" sort of way is
difficult. I'm at my best when I focus on doing without overthinking.
