FYI - here's how to make the Empress dirtier:

Harmonic Enhancement Circuit
The Empress Phaser has a clean and pristine sound by design. In
some instances, a dirtier sounding phaser may be desired. To
accomplish this, we’ve included a circuit which adds subtle, yet
pleasing, even order harmonics to the wet signal.

Engaging the Harmonic Enhancement Circuit
Engaging the circuit can be done by opening up your phaser and
locating the ‘BLEND’ dip array. Switching DIP1 on or off turns the
harmonic enhancement circuit on and off accordingly.

Yeah, also switching the blend from stock to 100% wet-able mode makes it way better too. Like honestly though I dont think it would get rid of any nasty high mids. im sure i dont notice/mind any nasty high mids honestly i just dig lots of crap sounding mid range

Hyperphase has some sweet glitch modes, too. YouTube it.

That was my impetus in sending you that over some other phaser. :)

Ok I thought about lordgalvar's suggestion and popping out the lfo on a phase 90 circuit and putting in one of those electric druid taplfo chips onstead should be a really easy operation, no? Like there is probably some small reverb buildre who has done this already like you get a phase 90 with more waveshapes and tap tempo there should be some demand.

I've tried something like that once, it didn't bring the results I wanted... although I have to say I wasn't that experienced with electronics back then.
You really have to pay attention to not mess something up with the control circuit for those JFETs regarding their control voltage and stuff like that. It is for sure doable, but I'd suggest designing and building something from scratch based on the Phase90 rather than modding an existing one.

yes you are right, building from scratch would be better.

Ok how about this? It's orange! Probably not quite phase 90 cause it's ldr/fet somehow (but its orange)

Edit: It may just be so that it has fet phase stages controlled by ldrs like an uhhh.. but hey! ;)

was the drolo phaser mentioned already? It has step mode and could probably get into Phase90 territories: https://www.drolofx.com/pedals/moon-rab ... pe-phaser/

Tap a phase was my thought as well. Had the trem for a while and it was really cool.
