The HM-2 is a great pedal too. I absolutely love that Fuzzy metal tone. I think I must have heard it when I was young and ended up associating that with a particular kind of metal, but was never able to place it until I heard Entombed. Fuzz normally sounds crap for metal, not to mention the fact that many of the iconic tones recorded with it are quite mid heavy. It shouldn't work, but it does.
On a fairly open sounding amp, on the neck pickup, it's pretty much a fuzz. This is probably why some shoegazers use it.
Into a dirty amp with the highs rolled off; it actually does sound like a proper metal distortion(it was used into a JCM800 on Opeth's Orchid, one of my favourite albums of all time).
Somewhere in between those two settings, with the mids fairly high, you get a kind of Johnny Greenwood-ish thing. I've heard the Shredmaster and HM-2 are pretty similar and interchangable. The accentuated mid frequency is definitely slightly different though.

I'm from Sweden but not a big fan of death metal. However I reckon they're wuite a few good bands. The Haunted being one I like but mainly because they're thrash/hardcore-sih at times.

Re: Swedish Death Metal
I really loved Entombed, especially the first two albums. But they remain a great group: I saw them last year, great gig with tons of volume and breaking riffs!
[For what concerns the HM-2, I think it's one of the most underrated pedal. Good tones for metal, shoegaze, noise and industrial too. Also great on bass (Godflesh, Jesu). I'd only wish a little more volume output... Anyways, does anybody know if Trap Them use this pedal? I think their tone is very close to Entombed's]

You're not a musician, you're a low frequencies generator!
