Sepultura - Quadra

I like every era of Sepultura more than most people I've ever met, and while the Derrick Green era has some gems (Roorback is a banger), this is easily the best Sep record in 25 years (harr harr easy jokes for the KVLT metal folks here). It's a total monster. The riffs are sick. The production is sick. The whole world is sick with Coronavirus and Brazil in particular looks like they're on a somewhat unique trajectory to be particularly fucked, but this record is everything good about metal and metal-adjacent things. Andreas Kisser should replace Bolsonaro right around yesterday as president.

Not to be a downer but, I really wanted to like this one.. but it just comes of generic "extreme metal" to me.. I aways "want" to like the stuff and they and Max is doing as they made a huge impact on me when I was 13 the first time I heard arise...

New RJD2 dropped yesterday! I snagged a vinyl and the digital. It's fucking amazing! Origin Deluxe by Jordan Rakei (regular edition was last year) is relaxing and puts a smile on my face. I think that's the only, new new stuff I've got lately.

My sister made me listen to it [not for the lyrics. The sound] and while I found the songs uninteresting, I liked the arrangements and production. It had a good mix of Tom Waits&Mavis Staples elements in there.

definitely! Varahtelija (add fome phonetic symbols here and there), their previous one was killer too. I'm not much into black-metal, but i love their approach to it.

with new, you mean Love & Evol? i love them but i felt like most of their albums of the last decade were just meh, instead this one was definitely a welcomed surprise.

Yeah I do like black metal but I love hearing fresh takes on it.

I never listened to that album but I saw them on the tour for it last year and it was great so. Maybe I should check it out
